Jayco trailers recalled for cooktop gas leak

In a 1943 cartoon, The Wise Quacking Duck, Daffy Duck peeks out from the inside of an oven. His last line? “Say! Now you’re cooking with gas!” Now RV builder Jayco says, “Please don’t!” For owners of some Jayco travel trailers, the request comes in a Jayco cooktop recall notice.

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2025 Jayco Jay Feather Micro trailers equipped with InVision Three Burner Cooktops. The aluminum burner tube may crack and cause a gas leak. A gas leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire. The recall potentially affects 412 rigs.

Jayco cooktop recall remedy

Owners are advised not to use the cooktop until the remedy is completed. Dealers will replace the center burner tube, free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 28, 2025. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco’s number for this recall is 9901617.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to nhtsa.gov.

Background

You’ve seen this issue before. At least one other RV manufacturer has been forced to make a recall after it installed Dicor Corporation-provided InVision cooktops. When Jayco got a letter from Dicor about the problem, it fished through its records and determined that rigs produced between June 13, 2024, and January 14, 2025, may have the defective cooktops.

I’ve noticed the past couple years there have been problems with RV gas appliances or parts for the gas line. Not enough oversight to ensure safety with gas in RV’s.
