There are just some things that make you do a double-take. The photo which could be titled “Bear exits RV window” has to be one of them. It raises questions like, “Was the porridge too hot? Too cold?” Just add this to your list of “bear bewares.”
High Sierra venue for bear-exits-RV-window photo
The bear exits RV image was shared on a Facebook page called Mike and Cheryl Great Adventure. The posters are campground hosts in California’s High Sierra country. The photo was given them by fellow camp hosts in a neighboring campground. They may like hosting, but this kind of hosting, to this particular guest, was probably not what they signed up for.
Mike and Cheryl commented that they often give visitors bear awareness and other safety tips. And a frequent response? “Bears don’t come around in the daytime!” Well, here’s evidence to the contrary.
Another viewer made what may be the “duh” comment of the day. “I notice it has a collar. Does that mean it is a pet?” Nope, but it could be the mark of death for this unfortunate bruin. The camp hosts were quick to point out that the collar means the bear has had at least one run-in with wildlife officials. For repeat offending bears, breaking and entering won’t just get you jail time—it could spell out a capitol crime.
And the question you probably want answered…
And the top question from folks viewing this post? You guessed it: Where did the bear exit the RV window? The answer: Sherwin Creek Campground. It’s high up, at over 7,000 feet, and not far from Mammoth Lake, California.

Thank you for sharing the news, Russ and Tina! Poor bear! Titillated by delicious odors and bits of food not securely inside a food locker. Later enticed to seek similar delights inside an unattenddd RV, and now he is endangered. Sad that human mistakes and failures can cost wild life lives. Safe travels!
Well does this answer the age old question, (does a bear crap in the woods). Maybe not if he can get into a camper and use theirs. 🙂 🙂 Hope he washed his paws afterwards.
Did he come in through the bathroom window, I wonder?
The question which came to my mind was “how did the bear get into the Rv in the fist place – if it was so hard to get out of it?” Hmmm……? (The ground is lower than the Rv floor or bed or table or whatever.)
I am not usually where bears are so bold, but anything’s possible.
