If you have a VIVI E‑bike stashed in your RV, listen up! On July 17, 2025, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall of approximately 24,000 lithium‑ion batteries used with various VIVI E‑bike models.
The recall is due to the battery’s potential for overheating and becoming a fire hazard.
Here’s the lowdown on why this matters, how to check your bike, and what to do next.
Why RVers should take note
Many RVers have joined the E-bike phenomenon in recent years. E‑bikes are a perfect solution for zipping into town for supplies or taking on that long, scenic park trail.
The problem? Lithium‑ion batteries can overheat and ignite. This poses serious fire and burn risks, not just to you but to your RV and fellow campers, as well.
What E-bikes are affected
The recall covers 36‑volt lithium‑ion batteries paired with several VIVI E‑bike models (e.g., M026TGB, MT26G, FM20, F20, S3, Z1, Z2, and more). These bikes were sold from December 2020 through November 2023.
VIVI has reported 14 incidents of the batteries overheating. Three of these led to fires. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported to date.
Is your E-bike affected?
Here’s how to determine if your E-bike is among those recalled.
First, locate your battery label. Look for the lithium‑ion battery’s model number. It’s stamped on the casing (e.g., “36V‑8AH‑288WH,” “SKD014,” “EB3610D0B”).
Compare your model number with the recall list. Visit the CPSC recall page and review the full list of recalled battery and E‑bike model numbers.
Next, contact VIVI for confirmation. Call VIVI toll‑free at 800‑375‑6103 (9 a.m. – 5 p.m. ET) or check online here.
Where recalled VIVI E‑bikes were sold
VIVI E‑bikes with the recalled batteries were widely available through major online retailers. These include Walmart.com; Amazon.com; eBay.com; Wish.com; Sears.com; Wayfair.com; AliExpress.com; and Viviebikes.com.
If you purchased your VIVI E-bike from one of these sites, go back to your order history to get the purchase date and battery details.
What then?
If you have a recalled E-bike, here’s what action to take:
Stop riding immediately. Do not charge or use your VIVI E‑bike until you have a safe, UL‑certified battery replacement in hand.
Dispose of the recalled battery properly. Take it to your local Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection center. Do not toss it in curbside recycling or the regular trash. Call ahead to ensure they accept recalled lithium‑ion batteries.
Get proof of disposal. Snap a photo or get a receipt from the HHW center showing that they took your battery.
Get a replacement
You can request a free replacement battery. Email your disposal proof (photo or receipt) along with your order or frame information (E-bike model number and recalled battery model number) to vivirecall@163.com, or go through the “Important Recall Information” link on the VIVI website. VIVI will send you a new battery and compatible charger at no cost.
Act now
RVers should act now. Check your E-bike. If it’s on the list of recalled batteries, take the appropriate actions.
