Not a straight forward question for us. Our 5th wheel stays in one place but we travel about the SE with our small toy hauler carrying 2 kayaks and 2 fat tire ebikes. The 2023 (under $20K) camper has room for our toys, can be left at the campsite while we explore the area in the SUV – unlike any $150K Class B which unless it’s a stripped down Sprinter haven’t the room or large rear door to load our toys in. Bonus: The small toy hauler becomes a storage area for the kayaks & bikes (and bike carrier) while we’re at our “base” campground. We can easily load up the kayaks and head to one of the many springs or ebikes to explore the natural wildlife areas.

After 10 years RVing and 4th year of retirement, decided to buy a lot in an RV community. No more reservation hassles or fees unless we feel like a side trip for a few days. Plenty to do here, SxS trails galore and prospecting too. Best of all, our own washer/dryer in the 12×20 “shed”!
The larger RV is stationary. To the point that we leave it year-round in the seasonal area. When we aren’t living in it, it is our storage unit so we don’t have to haul much back & forth. We have a much smaller TT that acts as a ‘rolling hotel room’ both for the seasonal migration, but for whatever regional ‘vacations’ we opt to do.
After living over 30 years in the desert, we now spend our winters in NW Washington. We move around, hosting in the state parks and enjoying the rain and green!
Staying for 2 months at Bullhead City, AZ beginning Jan 15th.
We’re planning 2 or 3 exploratory trips this winter. We leave for the hill country of Texas this Wednesday, for a short visit/vacation. Back home to WI for Christmas. Then heading to Florida via North Carolina for a couple of months.
Our 6th year in Mission, TX, in the Rio Grande Valley of southern Texas. Here Snowbirds are called Winter Texans. We are welcomed as their Santa Claus by the locals.
California for Christmas with grandkids, then Texas and eventually Mississippi—at least that’s the current plan. Likely 2 spots in Texas doing NOMADS projects, then some 4-7 day stays at COE, then 3 weeks in Mississippi for NOMADS. Home to Wisconsin in late March/early April.
I did not respond to this survey because the choices (for me) do not tell the whole story. I would prefer to move around but will be spending 4 months in one place because more and more places require longer stays in order to make an advanced reservation. With a 40′ motorhome, I like to have a plan. Perhaps I could find places for a month at a time and plan as I go, but I don’t like the risk of not finding a place. Plus, I like nice sites. When booking so close to arrival, you usually get the sites others don’t want.
