We know, we know. You’d like to be admired for being handsome/beautiful AND for having a great mind, right? Well, we’re sure that’s already the case for you. 😉
If you had to pick just one, which would you pick? Would you rather be admired for being handsome or beautiful or would you rather be admired for having a great mind? Tell us truthfully, no shame here, folks. And remember, we can’t see how you answer anyway!

When I was teaching 5th & 6th students, i always told the girls being pretty is nice, but paying attention to their education was most important. Good character is also very important.
I chose the great mind selection. At my age, mirrors are only used when necessary, like putting in my eye drops, trimming my sideburns and eyebrows, etc.
I would rather not be noticed or admired at all. Exception of my dogs of course.
All ready tried the good looks, not much happened so no I am going for the smart thing. 😇
Never was beautiful so I had to have the great mind. Lol
Beauty? A significant reason why our youth and millennials are out of touch. Even some boomers are still chasing that dream. Large amounts of money wasted chasing that dream and no time spent improving their mind. Unless it is natural beauty it is phony.
I’d rather be admired for being handsome. That doesn’t prevent me from also having a great mind! Plus, sometimes it’s better to be underestimated. 🙂
Every time I look in the mirror I realize I have neither great looks nor great mind. I am however, very happy with what I am.
Excellent! Thanks, Jim. It sounds like you’re pretty smart. Have a great day! 😀 —Diane
The comedian Red Green is noted for saying, “If women don’t find ya handsome, they need to find ya handy.” So, I try to be handy. 🙂
Whether we want to admit it or not, when someone walks into a room the first thing people notice is whether or not they are good lookinhg. You can’t NOT. Most are attracted to good looking people and will find a way to meet them. Then you find out if their mind meets your standards. And not all good looking people are “stuck up”. I remember hearing stories as a kid about pretty girls having trouble getting asked out for dates because guys were afraid to ask them – for fear of being turned down.
I got “shot down” in the fourth grade by a very pretty classmate (in my eyes anyway) and it took YEARS for me to overcome that. I still remember her name!
Problems if being both. Which one to pick????
I would prefer an option of being kind hearted.
👍
Absolutely!
“Never judge a book by its cover” . I would rather be judged by my comment to The teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ!
Never had the choice of being pretty, and being a genius* hasn’t worked out for more than a few years at a time either. So, I’m going to go with “I’d like either one with some longevity.”
*Note to self: learn to fake humility. 😀
I voted for great mind but, in all honesty, I’d much prefer being admired for being an overall good person. 😀
So the assumption is you are one or the other?? I say beauty, since it seems to open more doors, due to human bias against ugly. Then use your great intellect to excel and succeed in life.
So you are saying if you are not beautiful or handsome, you are ugly?
I’ve heard that good looking people are usually very smart. So either choice would be okay.
Besides being smart and good-looking, I like to be known for my humility. LOL.
I’m glad you mentioned your humility, impavid, or I wouldn’t have known. 😆 (I do know that you’re smart and good-looking, however.) Have a good evening. 😀 —Diane
Simply Too Funny!!
Know I’m not either so take a pass.
But: I do know that I am a “Legend in My Own Mind!!
& do enjoy ticking her off!!
Yippee!!
Being a bit of a contrarian raised in the 1950s, I took pride in rejecting the fashions and makeup that seemed to be required of everyone born with a double X chromosome, and was proud of not being “vain” at all.I was proud of my academic honors and enjoyed education. Unfortunately, being a bit of an(very pale) athlete and outdoorswoman in an era when “sun protection” was baby oil and iodine, there came a time a decade back when I needed to treat my face and arms with a cream that digested a bit more than the top layer of skin, walking around looking like hamburger meat for over a month. I got really self conscious, leery of being places I couldn’t face a wall so no one would have to look at me. That’s when I realized that after all, I had been pretty vain, actually believing that I looked pretty dam good WITHOUT makeup. The treatment seems to have held down the rapid growth in skin cancers (lifetime total so far-80+ basal cells, 15 squamous cells, and 2 melanomas)
I already have a great mind but it would be nice to be beautiful for a change lol.
Mac Davis sang it many years ago: “Oh Lord it’s hard to be humble when you’re perfect in every way. I can’t wait to look in the mirror – cause I get better looking each day. To know me is to love me. I must be a hell of a man. Oh Lord it’s hard to be humble. But I’m doing the best that I can.”
