If you like to quilt and you live in California or have an attachment to any of its state parks, then maybe this is for you.
Help celebrate 100 years since the legislature established the California State Park System by contributing to a one-of-a-kind commemorative quilt.
In honor of the 1927–2027 Centennial celebration, California State Parks is creating a Centennial Quilt featuring all 283 state park units. Each quilt square will represent a unique park and highlight its recreation opportunities, natural beauty, cultural significance or history.
Staff, volunteers, partners and community members are invited to create a quilt square that captures the spirit of a park unit they love.
Once complete, the individual squares will be assembled into a single commemorative quilt celebrating the rich diversity and shared legacy of California’s protected places. The finished quilt will be displayed during Centennial events.
The deadline for receiving the quilt squares is October 30th, and the target date for the completed quilt is sometime in January. If you have questions about the project or about participating, email planning (at) parks.ca.gov and someone will get back to you. Visit here to learn more.
