In this column, we summarize some of your emails and comments regarding RV service centers and repairs (we asked you to submit your stories here). We’ll tell you all: the best, the good, the bad and the ugly. At the end of this article, you’ll find a place to submit your own comments. I encourage you to do so.
Keep in mind, we typically only present one side of the story in most of these. Also, any remarks about service centers and mobile techs mentioned are the opinions of our readers and not necessarily RVtravel.com.
Here’s what you had to say:
Nanci’s notes
This week, we have a lot of negative reviews about various RV service centers. Some of these have had positive reviews in the past, so take them with a grain of salt.
We, unlike so many others, have had good experiences with Camping World, particularly the one in Monticello, MN. They have always gone the extra mile for us, from installing a cell booster and WiFi Ranger we purchased somewhere else, to explaining how to fix our RV toilet. They even put the last one in their stock on hold for us in case the repairs didn’t work.
So, the moral of this article? Don’t judge them all by one person’s bad experience, and do your own research, including our list of excellent RV service centers, Facebook pages, and Google reviews.
David never, ever takes his RV to Camping World
David N. wrote, “We have a 2000 Bounder DP. I have never taken it to a Camping World service center. But just to say we’ve had work done on her. We had six new tires put on her and didn’t check out the installation. My bad for not checking… we had a wheel cover fall off due to not being tightened. They aren’t cheap: $300! The dealer didn’t have long stems for the duallies. Not good. Just make sure you check the installation and they finish the work!!”
Not a good experience
Sloopy S. says simply, “Stay away from Camping World. Not a good experience.”
Many screwups at this service centers
Richard G. wrote, “General RV in Ocala, Florida. Worse service. Warranty work had to be done at an independent shop after many screwups. Don’t go there if at all possible.”
Robert has lost faith in Camping World, too
Robert W. said, “I have lost faith in Camping World and avoid them at all costs.”
Lippert won’t fix the problem
Brian C. had this to say, “Leaf springs: Lippert or Camping World doesn’t want to replace, don’t want to fix the problem.”
Horrible experience with a brand-new trailer
Matt F. wrote, “I bought a new 2020 Keystone Montana. Six months in, I have a list of warranty repairs. One part of my floor would flex; it felt spongy. Turns out the floor was retaining leaking water, and it needed to go back to Indiana. SEVEN MONTHS LATER, they sent it back to me. In transport, moulding fell off the ceiling and punched a hole through the linoleum. Keystone didn’t reimburse any of my $7,000 hotel expenses (their offer was a joke). I was missing personal items. Horrible experience with a brand-new trailer.”
A good resource
Rodney R. wrote, “Yep, I’ve had similar experiences with Camping World: sales that are high pressured and they sell ‘extras’ that you don’t need, service department that is slow and does poor quality work when they do something. I don’t/won’t use them.
“For repairs, I use a mobile tech. The NRVTA website is a great resource. You get better quality of work, and they come to you.”

Editor’s note
Note from RVtravel.com: If hiring a mobile tech, a small or mega service center, make sure that they are experienced in the issue and have insurance in case something goes wrong. Also, check their warranty policy on the work they perform. Check reviews too and read between the lines—if the review sounds way too good to be true it might be. Compare with several reviews and not just the ones on their website.
