RV’s low water flow problem solved

By Dave Solberg
Dear Dave,
Last year I bought this low-mileage motorhome. I almost always stay in an RV park. … If the fresh water tank is full the pump will stutter on all the water faucets under low water flow. It is better wide open. The shower head is low volume, so the pump runs and shuts off all the time when showering. The strange thing is, when the fresh tank gets down to about 1/4 full, it operates normally.  Any ideas? Thank you. —Vince, 2006 Fleetwood Terra 26Y  Read Dave’s reply plus the update from Vince.

5 ways the 10-year rule is destroying RVing

By Cheri Sicard
In the video below, the Grateful Glamper is fed up. They just got turned away from yet another RV park because of the 10-year rule—RV parks not accepting rigs older than 10 years. Our hostess thinks the 10-year rule is ruining RVing as we have come to know and love it. You may or may not agree, but here are her reasons why she says the 10-year rule negatively impacts RVing and RVers.

Getting a new FlexArmor RV roof for our RV – Worth it!

By Gail Marsh
You may remember that a pounding hailstorm ruined the roof of our fifth wheel RV. Our insurance company requested that we get quotes for the repairs, so we approached our local RV dealership. We’ve bought and sold several RVs at this business over the years and have a good working relationship with the techs who work there. They seemed an obvious choice for replacing our roof. But then, my husband began to research other options. Once he discovered the FlexArmor RV roofs, he was sold! Find out why here.

Quick tip
Battery safety comes first

When working with RV storage batteries, keep safety in the foremost place. Common flooded-acid batteries produce hydrogen gas when they charge. Unless that gas is thoroughly vented, a single spark can create a great explosion (think Hindenburg). When working with your batteries, always make sure the battery compartment is thoroughly vented BEFORE making a battery connection. For those who have an inverter, you’ll always (or near enough to call it always) get a spark when you reconnect the battery terminals.

Trivia

Half of America’s dogs come running just from the sound of a treat bag. According to CLIF PET™, 47% of the 2,000 dog owners surveyed reported their dog reacts instinctively to the noise made when a treat container is opened. 52 percent are also likely to run over when they hear words like “treat” or “cookie,” while only 37 percent consistently respond to the sound of their own name.

Hindenburg’s highly flammable exterior skin caught fire first. The hydrogen cells took some time to ignite.
Same results.

I am going to say it here hoping it reaches a lot of people. Maine is a nice place to visit but do not leave your RV here over the winter. Maine 2019 imposed a new homestead tax on out of state RV owners. It is a state tax where every municipality in the state of Maine can charge you a property tax or excise tax on out of state owners. Yeah it is a thing. I got a property tax bill on my RV sitting on a rental site inside a campground for $300. Or pay an excise tax to prove your trailer is registered with that state. Some municipalities are not coming for you but Ellsworth Maine is. So if you are on the Trenton side you will not get a tax bill.

So to finish what I was saying is the campground is charging you a lodging fee and the city is charging you an excise tax. One or the other. Yes it sounds criminal but with state laws it is hard to fight them without having deep pockets yourself. Happy trails.
