Know your plugs: 50A vs. 30A RV hookups—When 50-30 doesn’t equal 20!
By Andrew Herrick
I forgive you for thinking that 50–30 = 20, since that’s what we were all taught in elementary arithmetic. But when it comes to RV electric hookups, there’s a big difference between 30-amp (30A) and 50-amp (50A) power. Did you know a 50A hookup supplies more than three times as much power as a 30A hookup?
There are four common plugs/receptacles used for RV hookups: two for 30A, and two for 50A. Each amperage has a “straight” and a “twist-lock” version. Oftentimes, you’ll find twist-lock plugs on the RV itself and straight receptacles on the campground power pedestal. (A plug, by the way, has prongs; a receptacle has slots). Continue reading.

Watch this BEFORE buying the MORryde RV door latch extender
Here, our favorite RV gearhead, Joshua from RV Gear & Far, discusses an RV door latch extender, one of his favorite RV accessories. Joshua loves this gadget’s functionality. However, he encountered issues with his MORryde extender. Joshua installed the MORryde RV door latch extender and said it made how everyone interacted with the RV’s door much easier, especially the kids. It all was great for about 18 months, then things got loose.
PRO TIP: Keep a detailed log of your RV’s maintenance and repair history. This log should include things like oil changes, tire rotations, and any repairs or upgrades. It can help you stay on top of regular maintenance, make informed decisions about repairs, and provide valuable information if you ever need to sell the RV. Here’s one we recommend.

Cord cover protects sensitive cables and eliminates trip hazards
By Nanci Dixon
I needed a way to cover up our expensive, sensitive Starlink cable so it didn’t get crushed. Not to mention it’s a trip hazard. Covering it with a patio rug made me cringe as everyone stepped on it. I knew from seeing electrical cords under a raised protector that there had to be something to help. A three-hour Amazon search followed. I compared almost all the reviews until I found just the perfect three-channel cable and cord cover. Check it out.

Use a “drip loop” for cables going into your RV
Reader Bryan sent this in as a comment to a post: “If you run a cable (power, coax, ethernet, etc.) into an RV, make sure to do a ‘drip loop’ first. A drip loop is a part of the cable that is lower than the point it enters inside. This allows any water that is coming down the cable to drip off at the lower point. Without a drip loop, the water will just follow the cable into the inside of the camper. Drip loops are good for any cable or hose where you don’t want the water to follow a path somewhere it shouldn’t. Just remember that water does not go uphill.” —Thanks for the great drip tip, Bryan!

Gus and ICE are beautiful dogs. They look comfy and content on their dog bed.
Thank you for sharing a picture of your pack, Dana! May you have many, many wonderful RVing adventures for many, many years! Thank you, Emily and Diane! Have a great day and safe travels!
Dana, I love your dogs! Nice that they share a bed.
Dana, you have beautiful pups. We travelled with a white male GSD we named Kacee for about nine years. In addition to the white recessive gene, he was also a long-hair. As with Ice, he always got lots of attention! We now travel with a traditional color GSD and a sable working line GSD. Take good care of them!
Gus and Ice are so sweet and absolutely precious doggies🥰🐶
Gus and ICE are gorgeous, wow I can see that they would garner some attention in a campgrounds. Keep on camping.
Regarding “Leave Here With a Laugh”, I’ve served that to my son in law. It’s the only fish he will eat!
I was with the ladies today and over heard them talk about a woman or couple that travel and collect key chains from locations that they have visited. This is what she does and it is a phenomenal idea. She uses them as ornaments on her xmas tree. Instead of ornaments? Use key chains. They have instant hooks. I am like wish I thought of that. Instead of stuff collecting dust. Now go collect key chains and decorate the xmas tree.
