A whole new spin on “drive ‘til the wheels come off.” It could happen if an owner were to install the spare tire. Tiffin Motorhomes, Inc. (Tiffin) is recalling certain 2024 Tiffin Convoy, and 2023, 2025 Tiffin GH1 motorhomes. The wheel bolts for the spare tire may be missing. A spare tire that is installed without the correct bolts can detach, increasing the risk of a crash. 242 units are potentially affected.
Remedy
Tiffin will mail the wheel bolts for the spare tire, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 30, 2024. Owners may contact Tiffin customer service at 1-256-356-8661. Tiffin’s number for this recall is TIF-140.
Notes
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
Tiffin motorhome recall background
Tiffin Motorhomes changed the stock Mercedes Benz wheels to Vision wheels. The wheel bolts used to hold the Vision wheels are different from the stock Mercedes Benz wheels. The spare tire was not changed, and production forgot to include a set of Mercedes Benz wheel bolts in owner materials packet.
Without the correct wheel bolts, in the case of a flat tire, there is a chance that the Vision wheel bolts may be used to secure the spare tire. If the spare Mercedes wheel were attached using the Vision wheel bolts, there is the risk of the tire coming off and that would increase the risk of an accident.

Thank you, Russ and Tina! 🙂 Well, looks as though it took 4 (?) years for the Thor effect to hit Tiffin. Oh well. I guess it was bound to eventually happen. Glad that it was caught. Anybody get hurt from this? Thanks again, have a great day, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂
Thanks for the report R & T. Why is it going to take over a month to mail the notification letters and how long to get the correct bolts??
OOPS !
