In the video above, the OklaHomesteader gives us a walk-through tour of the Capri Retreat truck camper, a short-bed truck camper that still manages to fit a toilet and shower inside! And in a world of overpriced RVs, the Capri Retreat is surprisingly affordable, too.
Well, the camper in the video is a short bed version, but Capri makes the Retreat in other sizes, as well. The base price is for a base model, but when you order your camper, you get to pick and choose like a Chinese restaurant menu to get exactly the features you want and nothing that you don’t. According to our host, the owner of the company is involved with you from your first order until you pick up the finished product, and he had a terrific experience overall.
Built in Texas, Capri sources as many parts and components for their campers from the U.S. as possible.
Our host was on his maiden voyage when he shot the video. I like how he uses the truck’s tailgate as the camper’s back porch.
He opted for the rooftop air conditioner, which is the lowest profile of this variety I have yet to see. He also got Capri’s rooftop solar option.
The cedar wood paneled interior has the feel of a rustic cabin and apparently repels insects, and smells terrific too!
The Capri Retreat is small, but it has everything our host needs—a fridge, microwave oven, sink, 2-burner Suburban cooktop, dinette, and bedroom.
Best of all, for a camper this tiny, there is a bathroom! It includes a Dometic cassette toilet and a full-sized shower!

What’s not to like?
The queen-sized bed over the cab is nice, but the fact that it is an east/west bed is not, especially if you are a couple. Capri does offer a north/south bed orientation as an upgrade, and that’s one I think I would have opted for. The bed area is a tad claustrophobic, as well, with not much overhead height.

The camper has 30-amp service, but all the specs depend on the options you choose. The base price starts at $16,995 and goes up from there, depending on how much you want to trick out your camper.

I don’t know if anyone else is having problems with the video but about the point he talks about the small stepstool the video cuts out and the page reloads. I tried twice and and same issue in the same spot.
Interesting camper. Good for a solo camper. Went to the website and priced out a Retreat in the 8′ bed model. Base price = $16,995. I went through and picked my options. In the end, the price was $34,245. Still less than models by other more recognizable mfgs. I guess I’m still a trailer guy and always will be.
Well George, mine does that too… the page reloads every 4 to 5 minutes regardless of video or script. Kinda makes it challenging to get back to where you were… reminds me of the days of dial- up back in the 80’s!!!
