The 2024 Surveyor Legend 19SSLE travel trailer is under 5,000 pounds!

Josh the RV Nerd, one of our readers’ favorite RV YouTube vloggers, is here in the video below to give us a tour of the 2024 Surveyor Legend 19SSLE travel trailer by Forest River. A spacious RV that weighs in under 5,000 pounds!

What does the SS stand for? Josh jokes that it’s “simply stellar,” as he is impressed with just how much they managed to pack into this trailer. Like what, you say? Like:

  • A true queen-sized bed
  • A tri-fold sleeper sofa
  • Azdel composite walls
  • 200 watts of rooftop solar
  • 12-volt tank heaters
  • Heated underbelly
  • Tire pressure monitoring system
  • An impressive amount of kitchen counter space
  • A roomy bathroom

All for under 4,900 pounds total weight!

Now, Josh says that sometimes with RVs their greatest assets can also be their greatest liabilities. In the case of the 2024 Surveyor Legend 19SSLE, he says that the fact that they crammed so many great features into this small trailer, it can feel a little cramped inside. So this would not be a great family camper, but for one or two people it’s perfect.

There is a true queen-sized bed, but there is no bedroom or privacy. For me this would be a deal breaker. I dislike RVs that have a big old bed on full display as soon as you walk in the coach.

You won’t find a traditional dinette, but there is a breakfast bar with barstools where one or two people can dine.

The kitchen has a nice amount of counter space thanks to the vertically placed 2-burner stove.

More nice features of the 2024 Surveyor Legend 19SSLE travel trailer

  • 15,000 BTU AC
  • Goodyear tires with TPMS
  • Central vacuum system with electric dustpan
  • Tons of storage throughout, including under the bed
  • Tankless on-demand water heater
  • Outdoor kitchen

What’s not to like?

Josh took a huge issue with the toilet. It’s shoved in a corner and does not offer much space around it. The bathroom also has extremely limited countertop space.

Also, with the slide in, space gets very tight, so travel access is limited. Yes, you can squeeze by, but it is not easy, and if you are any bigger than Josh, you might not be able to. Be sure to watch the video as Josh gives some good tips for those who have Schwintek slides.

The biggest issue of all with this trailer, however, is its painfully low cargo-carrying capacity, only 679 pounds. No matter how nice everything else is, that would be a HUGE deal breaker for me. Honestly, I don’t even know why they make RVs with that low a weight. I know people who weigh more than that!

There’s good and bad in this trailer. Horrible toilet placement is a deal breaker right there! The single axle is thumbs down. This is a single person’s trailer.

Agree on the toilet position, reminds me of my first trailer back in 1978, you had to get everything ready before closing the door as you couldn’t move once the door was closed. Lol

As a single with the occasional friend over, I like it but the deal breaker is the problem of getting from the bed to the bathroom in the middle of the night when the couch is made to a bed.
