The 10 best theme parks in America

By Cheri Sicard
Nothing delights the young and the young at heart as much as a day spent riding the rides at a theme park. No matter where your RV travels take you, you’re bound to find a good theme park or two.

The team from Theme Park Recommendations has compiled their picks of the ten best theme parks in America to help your travel planning even more. Put a pin in the map in case you get close to any of these!

10 best theme parks in America

#10 Knott’s Berry Farm, Buena Park, CA: Besides some decent coasters, Knott’s offers other amazing rides and attractions not found anywhere else (their log flume is one of the best).

#9 Hershey Park, Hershey, PA: Our host says this is a quirky park in a good way, creating an atmosphere unlike anywhere else. It also offers one of the best roller coaster collections in America.

#8 King’s Island, Mason, OH: This is a great all-around amusement park, although it lacks, in our host’s opinion, a top 10 coaster.

#7 Busch Gardens, Tampa, FL: Among other great attractions, Busch Gardens Tampa offers one of the best roller coaster collections in the world.

#6 Islands of Adventure, Orlando, FL: Thanks to the fantastic Velocicoaster, this is now our host’s favorite Florida theme park, and that is some tough competition.

#5 Dollywood, Sevierville, TN: Our host says this is the most fun place in the Smokies.  I will add that because of its natural setting, it is also one of the most beautiful amusement parks anywhere. Besides some great coasters, Dollywood offers excellent live entertainment, and be sure to try the cinnamon bread!

#4 Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, VA: Our host calls this America’s most beautiful theme park. Personally, I say it’s a toss-up between here and Dollywood, but we are splitting hairs. Our host says that everything here from the rides to the entertainment to the food is a step above the rest.

#3 Silver Dollar City, Branson, MO: According to our host, this park does everything that Dollywood does, but then does it just a little bit better, and in the case of the food, a lot better.

#2 Knoebels, Elysburg, PA: A surprise entry, especially so high on this list, Knoebels offers some of the best theme park food anywhere, along with some great coasters. Don’t miss the Haunted Mansion, one of the best old-school dark rides still in operation, and lots of other fun rides you won’t find anywhere else.

#1 Cedar Point, Sandusky, OH: I, too, am a big Cedar Point fan, so I cannot argue with this pick. Its Lake Erie setting makes it unlike any other park in the world. There are lots of rides you don’t see elsewhere, plus three top-tier coasters.

Do you have other great theme parks to add to this list?  Be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Lost Island theme park in Waterloo Iowa has been also rated as a top park in the US. It’s a new park but adjacent to Lost Island Water park and KOA nearby.

Thank you, Cheri! 🙂 Those sound like interesting places to visit and play, but the prices of admission are daunting. Had we children, or, better yet, grandchildren, then I am certain the admission fee would be immaterial. Thanks again, have a great day, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂
