We reported last year that Yosemite National Park would require reservations to enter the park during peak hours. Some weren’t surprised by the news. One reader commented, “It’s too bad this is a necessity, this entire area gets way too overcrowded.” Last year wasn’t the first time the park used the system for crowd control. This year is different. For now, the Yosemite entrance reservation system is on indefinite hold.
“Administration put a complete stop” to Yosemite entrance reservation system
Why the change? The Los Angeles Times says park managers have suspended the reservation system until they get an OK from the new federal administration. The Times quoted one in-park concessionaire. Teri Marshall, with Rush Creek Lodge and Spa at Yosemite, said she understood that “the Trump administration put a complete stop to the reservation system for cars.” Marshall is director of marketing communications for the lodge.
“For us, it’s not confusing,” she told the Times, “but it’s very confusing for international travelers and others trying to plan.” Lodge management is concerned that the lack of a reservation system could cause a ‘free for all’ with huge numbers of visitors overwhelming the park’s infrastructure and natural beauty.”
Low profile from park officials
Park officials are keeping a low profile on the Yosemite entrance reservation issue. The official comment on the matter appears on the park’s Facebook page. “We anticipate sharing details about this year’s spring–fall reservation system early in 2025. We recognize the importance of providing clarity on that system as soon as possible to accommodate peak summer season travel planning.” The posted added, “We are grateful for the robust public engagement in this process to shape an improved and sustainable visitor experience.”

The Parks App indicates that the park has been planning to announce an entrance program in February for months and currently is using a reservation system for February weekend visits. I doubt the Feds told them to stop reservations…why not other parks? I’m beginning to see a slant in this news letter. Please keep us updated as more real news becomes available.

Here’s a headline from abc7news.com dated Feb. 5: “Yosemite reservations put on hold with revamped system waiting for Pres. Trump’s approval.” And here’s part of that report: “YOSEMITE, Calif. (KGO) — If you’re looking to book a reservation to go visit Yosemite this summer, you’re going to have to wait. Does anyone actually believe that DJT cancelled the existing system of reservations for Yosemite all by himself in the last 19 days and the “revamped system” is sitting on a corner of the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office waiting for the leader of the free world to get to it? Seriously?
Right…… he and Melania were discussing Yosemite’s reservation system over dinner last Tuesday and BAM, done deal.
The issue is taking quotes from any article from Los Angeles Times and reprinting it as gospel.

As it states, “The mangers closed the reservation system”. This appears to be in an effort to CREATE a new “crisis”, where none existed. An obvious symptom of Advanced TDS on the part of these Gov’t employees.
Teri Marshall was obviously deceived in that her “assumption” is that it was an “administration” directive. Nope, simply “The Park Managers” decision. Create a quasi crisis if no real crisis exists.
A slant you say….. absolutely. I enjoy the efforts of Russ and Tina for the tremendous quantity of articles. It’s fun to find the “hair on fire” slight of hand to create the “slant”.
