Their RV was stolen, then towed, then stolen again, then sold… and nobody ever told them
By Steve (and Claudia) Sorensen
Think it’s illegal for somebody to steal your RV? Not really, and with the help of your insurance company, the local police, an impound yard, and the DMV, it might even be easy! My wife and I have been RVers three months out of every summer and fall for fifteen years. We’ve seen the entire American West from Mount Rushmore to Cape Blanco, Glacier National Park to Chaco Canyon, twice. We owned a 22-foot Minnie Winnie, until recently… You will not believe this story!!
Coast Guard pilots transform helicopter into incredible RV
By Gail Marsh
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a helicamper! Blake Morris and Maggie Morgan, both helicopter pilots in the U.S. Coast Guard, have been busy. They’ve spent more than 900 hours working to transform a helicopter body into a roadworthy RV. After finding the helicopter on Facebook Marketplace, they did some research. Turns out, the helicopter was used by German military police, spent time in Afghanistan with U.S. troops, and finally made its way back to the United States in 2011. Check out this amazing RV!
How to fix a stripped screw hole
Stripped screw holes are a common problem in RVs. They can pop up anywhere—from the exterior wall of an RV to skylight frames, window curtain tensioners, or in thin interior walls. In this video and article, Ross from RV Tips & Travels breaks down four practical methods to fix stripped screw holes and provides the pros and cons of each. Watch the step-by-step guide here or read the article.

TrailManor 16 is a new tiny trailer with big features
By Tony Barthel
Today’s RV review is of the new-for-2025 TrailManor 16. You might already know of TrailManor products such as the TrailManor 2518KD, which we looked at a while back. The company is known for trailers that tow low and camp high, so to speak. But the TrailManor 16 is something very different.

RV service centers and repairs report
“Camping World hangs up when you call; it’s been hell trying to get help”
This week, Nanci Dixon relates more unbelievable stories from our readers about all of the issues with their RVs and the ongoing lack of service from their service centers, plus more frustrating problems regarding warranty work. One person reports being hung up on when calling for service! But there are a couple of happy campers—one with their brand of RV and one with a repair shop which at least communicates with them. Read those stories and more here.

Owning an RV is a dream for many who love the open road, freedom, and adventure. But when it comes to buying an older RV, the big question is: Is it a cost-effective decision or a financial nightmare? In this video, Deb Bruening from Deb’s RV Services shares her experience of owning a 2000 Lazy Daze Class C motorhome and breaks down the real costs of repairs and maintenance over the years. If you’re considering buying an older RV or simply curious about the expenses, you would benefit from watching the video or reading the written version of it.
The RV divide: How RVing couples can find compromise
By Gail Marsh
Embarking on RV adventures offers couples a unique blend of exploration and comfort. However, when one partner thrives on outdoor activities while the other prefers the coziness inside the RV, tensions can arise. Finding a balance that honors both individuals’ preferences is essential for an enjoyable journey. Here’s how you can compromise in the RV.

A very, very wet Valentine’s Day in Borrego Springs
By Rod Andrew
After several years of wandering through the Western USA, my wife and I finally settled on a place we wanted to spend our Canadian winters. The township of Borrego Springs, California, offered everything we needed, including a slow lifestyle and marvelous weather. We knew that the one quality of a desert that we could always count on was that it would be dry. Arid, desiccated, seared, and baked, right? And it was. Until one night… Continue reading this hilarious story. (It will make you laugh!)
The Super Bowl name came from Lamar Hunt, owner of the Kansas City Chiefs, who was inspired by the Super Ball, a high-bouncing toy his kids played with. During meetings about the AFL-NFL championship game, he casually called it the “Super Bowl.” Though originally meant as a placeholder, the name stuck, and by Super Bowl III (1969), it became official.

My most used RV accessory: Insulating vent cover for cold and hot weather
By Cheri Sicard
This simple RV accessory, an insulating RV vent cover, is one of my most-used RV accessories, both in cold and hot weather. When the temperatures dip, it blocks cold air from entering your RV. I expected this function, and it did not disappoint. However, I was surprised at how effective it is in the heat of summer when the sun’s full force is beating down on my RV. Continue reading.
Lodge cast iron scrapers: Small gadget, big results
By Cheri Sicard
Sometimes the smallest things have the biggest impact, and these Lodge cast iron scrapers are a great example. I did not know this handy little gadget existed until my niece saw me using a spoon to scrape off some cooked-on particles from my cast iron pan. “You know, we have cast iron scrapers for that,” she informed me. No, I did not know that. She handed me a small piece of plastic, and did it ever work!

Be very cautious after a “blowout” in a dual steel body radial tire
By Roger Marble
In this week’s post, Roger explains what a zipper rupture “blowout” in a steel body radial tire is. He also explains why it is critical if a steel body tire has been run at lower than 80% of the required air pressure to NOT REINFLATE the tire unless it has been dismounted and inspected by a dealer for that brand of tire. Dramatic/disturbing videos included. Read this important warning.

As a paying subscriber, when I open the link for the weekend editions of RV Travel, I see the following quote:
“Ads have been removed in this newsletter for our much-appreciated volunteer paid subscribers.”
I have to ask what “ad free” really means. Yes, the main body is ad free, but as soon as I click on any article or feature in RV Travel it is full of ads. I have not contributed just to see an ad free “Table of Contents;” I expected to not see any ads whatsoever. This is the time of the year that I have contributed in past years, could someone on the staff kindly explain to me why the subscriber’s edition is not truly ad free? I’m not sure I want to contribute anymore.
I’m not staff but I have worked on webpages in the past. There are approximately 25 links to new pages in this newsletter. Creating 2 versions (ads and no ads) to all these pages is an incredibly time consuming process. It’s not a simple click and repeat for each page. RV Travel has limited staff with limited time.
When you donate, you aren’t buying the ad free newsletter with no ads on very page. You are donating to keep the newsletters going. An ad free version of the main page of the newsletter is a gift. Unfortunately ads are necessary to keep RV Travel in business.
Thank you, but the question remains, specifically, why does the staff say it is ad free. And contrary to what you stated, I decided to contribute not only to keep the RV Travel staff in business, but also to get the promised ad free version and when something is ad free, it is totally ad free.
Hi, Carl. Our apologies for having to run ads in the posts that are linked to the ad-free newsletter. Here’s part of my recent reply to a comment similar to yours: “… [T]here are ads in the posts that you go to by clicking on a link in the newsletter. We just don’t have the time or resources to make every single post ad-free for our very much appreciated voluntary subscribers. Since fewer than 7% of our readers donate to RVtravel.com, we have no choice but to run ads to remain afloat. So, thank you very much for your contributions to support us and our endeavors to inform and entertain RVers.” But if you don’t want to contribute anymore, Carl, we understand. Have a good afternoon/evening. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
Carl: Install Ad Blocker and they go away – like magic! I also use the Firefox browser.
Methinks thou dost protest too much.
It’s just been determined that I’m not human. Oh dear!
Me neither, Elaine. I made it through about 10 seconds, probably less. Couldn’t shut it off quickly enough.🤣 Have a great day. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
No ads in mine.
If you don’t like ads, download Duck Duck Go for your search engine. It’s free and WONDERFUL!
RV Travel is not alone in the world of newsletters in having ad content. I fully understand why it happens, and the reason that the subscriber supported main newsletter is ad-free but the linked pages are not. I’m not familiar with all the tricks that various device brands and browser platforms offer. I do know that if you view it on a Mac, or an Apple iOS device like an iPad, simply choose the reader option, and all the extraneous stuff goes away.
There aren’t any ads in my copy. I believe that you must access the issue from the link in your email in order to get the ad-free version. If you go directly to the website, it doesn’t know that you are a subscriber.
“Brain Teaser”. According to your description, please explain how you arrived at your answer of “22”. Thank you.
Hi, Stinger. 15+7=22. 37+7=44. 44÷2=22. But I don’t know what the formula is for that.🤔 Have a great day. 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
We were not clear if it meant the Mother was twice her own age or twice Ashley’s age so we figured it both ways. The question would have been more clear if it had been worded, “Her Mother is now twice Ashley’s age”. The way it was written grammatically, I believe it would mean her Mother is now twice her own age, 74. Now my head hurts.
Thanks, Dave. Yeah, my head hurts now, also.😉 I didn’t put it into the newsletter, so didn’t really “analyze” it but just looked for typos. Have a good afternoon/evening. 😀 –Diane
We appreciate this wonderful RV newsletter so very much, THANK YOU 👏🏻😀
And we appreciate YOU, Brian. Thank you!!! Have a great day. 🤗 -Diane
ok… I laughed a little…guess I’m human.
We apologize, G. If you were actually looking at the Subscribers’ edition of today’s newsletter, there should have been no ads in the newsletter itself, but there are ads in the posts that you go to by clicking on a link in the newsletter. We just don’t have the time or resources to make every single post ad-free for our very much appreciated voluntary subscribers. Since fewer than 7% of our readers donate to RVtravel.com, we have no choice but to run ads to remain afloat. So, thank you very much for your contributions to support us and our endeavors to inform and entertain RVers.👍 Have a great day! 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com
What a great picture of Cooper!
Cooper looks to be in heaven! SWEET!
I have no problem reading the newsletter. It must be the service provider.
Ditto!
Thank you, Emily and Diane! Well, there is now clear evidence that I am not human. I bought nothing to eat during the Super Bowl, which I failed to watch. [I last watched the Baltimore Colts beat the Dallas Cowboys in the Super Bowl of January 1971 (i.e., Super Bowl V). I lost interest thereafter.] Additionally, I listened to the first 60 seconds of today’s laugh without the slightest urge to laugh along with the recording. It might have been different had I seen what elicited the laughter, but I did not. Ha! I did get the brain teaser right. 🙂 Have a great week and safe travels!
Way back in the archives you’ll find a short video of a guy sitting in front of a cabin (it’s a set on a show). He starts laughing and it is the weirdest, funniest laugh ever. The recording didn’t come close. I just looked for it online and couldn’t find it. Only place I think it might exist is in RVT archives. Ask Chuck, he’ll remember.
