We received this letter from reader Scott B. earlier this week and he asked that we share it with you, our readers.
No, we didn’t mail Scott a box of chocolate chip cookies, or pay for his RV repairs, or buy him a BBQ pulled pork sandwich or reupholster his RV’s couch for such a nice note. He wrote about this simple way to help us out of the kindness of his heart. Thank you, Scott.
Scott’s letter
An open letter to the readers of the RVtravel newsletters, both paying contributors and those who read for free.
I look forward to the daily newsletters that are sent out covering everything from the required RV maintenance issues that we all need to do but might be hesitant to complete, travel journal writings of the lucky wanderers and the silly articles that make me groan.
These daily published gems take time, research, and effort by a great number of dedicated individuals before I get to enjoy them. I do voluntarily contribute to support the continued efforts of the staff (before anyone asks). I thought about the value of these free newsletters and how much I get from almost every one that appears in the email daily and it just made sense to support it financially.
I know this sounds like the PBS badgering that we receive when tuning in infrequently to that network. BUT, there is a cost-free option to you, the readers of the newsletters, that will allow the continuation of the great articles.
Use the Amazon link as a bookmark in your browser for all of your purchases and RVtravel.com will receive a few pennies from each purchase that can support the cause without any financial cost to you, the Amazon purchaser. I will continue to send in my twice-a-year contributions to support this publication, but encourage everyone to use the Amazon link to keep the influence-free newsletter a reality. —Scott Brown
Here’s how it works
When we advertise a product through Amazon and you click the link, we get a tiny (and we mean tiny) commission. If you click on any Amazon link on our website, then you buy, say, new cat litter, or a new garlic press, or even a new shirt, we still get a tiny, tiny commission. As long as you click a link to Amazon from RVtravel.com, and shop for other items on Amazon at that time, we get the commission. It doesn’t cost you a penny more that if you went directly to Amazon and not through one of our links. This applies to any website on the internet with an Amazon affiliate program.
Even though the commissions are small, collectively it adds up, and at no cost to you whatsoever. You don’t have to do anything differently!
If you want to bookmark the page, as Scott suggests, you can bookmark this page, or visit RVtravel.com, click on the link in the blue bar across the top of your screen that says RVT Amazon Store, before you do your Amazon shopping.
This is just one small way you can support RVtravel.com without contributing financially. We appreciate it so very much.
Again, thank you, Scott, and thank you to you, our loyal readers.
Have a question about this? Leave a comment—we’ll get back to you!

I wish I thought of this! Since Amazon stopped supporting our favorite charities, it only makes sense to support RVTravel!
Thank you, Scott and Emily, for explaining how the Amazon links work to increase RV Travel’s financial support. Safe travels! 🙂
Brilliant. Reminds me of the movie Office Space.
Very nice, and informative!
