Here’s a story that proves dumb crooks aren’t just a U.S. phenomenon. Swiss police say three dumb crooks tried using a motorhome as a getaway car. They left their getaway RV stranded on railroad tracks, shutting down a rail line for hours.
Police in Selzach, Switzerland, got an automated burglary call from a commercial building last Sunday afternoon. Officers were dispatched to the burgled building, and arrived in time to catch a glimpse of the European equivalent of a Class C motorhome fleeing the crime scene.

With police in hot pursuit, the three alleged burglars hot-wheeled down the streets, eventually making their way to a railroad line. Perhaps they’ve watched too many cartoons, because instead of sticking to a roadway designed for cars, they attempted to scoot down alongside the rail bed.
Not too bright, as the rig soon bogged down between the tracks and the grass strip next to them.
All three bungling burglars bailed out of the RV and headed into the “safety” of a cornfield. Police officers formed a perimeter around the corn patch and sent in a team of K-9s. It didn’t take long for the three to be placed under arrest.
While it may have gone quickly for the police and their dumb crook quarry, the same can’t be said for train passengers. The train from Solothurn to Biel/Bienne typically takes 22 minutes to cover the 15-mile route. On a given day, 74 trains run the popular line.
It took the fire department about two hours to clear the motorhome from the tracks, upsetting plenty of riders’ plans.

Seems they surely could have done better in a Citroen (https://www.citroen.ch/fr/) or Peugeot (https://www.peugeot.com/en/) rather than an RV. It saddens me to hear that there are crooks in Switzerland. And to be stupid on top of it.
Had a similar incident years ago, when a neighbor had his RV stolen. Small police pursuit, followed by a crash, with the RV dangling off of an embankment. Original story link:
