They gave the guys on the production line instructions. When the tire carriers started falling off, Winnebago managers figured out they didn’t follow them. It’s all led to the Winnebago tire carrier recall.
Winnebago Industries, Inc. (Winnebago) is recalling certain 2025 Minnie Winnie and Spirit motorhomes. The spare tire carrier mounting bolts may loosen, allowing the carrier to detach. A detached spare tire carrier can become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash. Potentially 107 motorhomes are affected.

Background
In late October, Product Safety was notified of two separate claims involving partial detachment of the spare tire carrier, with one claim on a unit that was enroute to a dealership for delivery. An investigation was subsequently opened. During the investigation, an audit of eight units on campus found 4 with incorrect installation, which led to an internal hold notice being initiated. It was discovered production had not installed the spare tire carrier correctly.
How did the Winnebago tire carrier recall come about? States Winnebago’s report to NHTSA: “Production did not follow print instructions when the spare tire carrier was installed offline.”

Thank you, Russ and Tina! Unfortunate that Winnebago didn’t have a qualify control program to spot-check aspects of RVs as they move down and off the production line. Have a great day and safe travels!
Maybe the bolts did not get tightened because the production line was going too fast.
