As the editor of RVtravel.com’s Great RV Accessories newsletter, a whole lot of RV gear and gadgets come across my radar, and I am lucky enough to get to try a lot of them out. So, I thought I would do a roundup of some of my favorites from this past year, big and small. I also got some help from fellow RVtravel.com writers Gail Marsh and Tony Barthel. So, without further ado, here’s what made the 2025 list:
Our favorite RV gear and gadgets of 2025
• Bluetti Elite 200 V2 portable power station: My new favorite portable power station provides a HUGE amount of power from a small footprint.
• Zinus memory foam mattress: Everything you could want in a mattress: firm support with just the right amount of give, easy delivery and installation, and a super affordable price! If you need a new mattress for your RV, this one is hard to beat!
• New and improved Dump Buddy: According to Tony Barthel, every once in a while, someone will come up with something that is so game-changing, he thinks it should be in every RV (and so do I). The Dump Buddy is simply one of those items that you. Must. Have.
• Yeti insulated products: I used to roll my eyes at Yeti products. To me, they seemed like overpriced status symbols for the van life crowd. Sure, they worked—but were they really that much better than the cheaper alternatives? I couldn’t see how the steep price tags could be justified… until I saw one in action.
• Insulated vent cover: This essential gadget can help keep you warmer in cold weather or cooler in hot weather.
• Clip-on camping fan: The fan does exactly what I wanted it to, namely, keep my head and neck cool while trying to sleep in hot weather. Plus, it can clip on or hang from anywhere, and it’s USB rechargeable.
• Heat-powered fan for portable heaters: This little fan increases efficiency from portable propane heaters BIG TIME!
• Secondz collapsible food containers: With the Secondz collapsible food containers, I get all of the function of containers that lock foods inside, but I save 70 percent of the cabinet space that the old containers used to occupy. That’s because they collapse down to pack flat when not in use.
• Manta white noise machine: If you find yourself struggling to sleep at noisy campgrounds, rest areas, or truck stops, this device just might be your best friend. (It works great when you are at home, too.) Having struggled with insomnia my entire life, I have become quite the connoisseur of white noise machines over the decades. The Manta White Noise Machine is by far the best white noise machine I have ever tried. I have tried a lot of them, of all sizes and price ranges, as well as phone apps.
• Body Glide anti-blister balm: Prevent blisters when walking or hiking? Heck yeah!
• Lodge cast-iron scrapers: This tiny, inexpensive gadget delivers HUGE results when it comes to cleaning grills and cast-iron cookware.
BONUS: Favorite books of 2025
• Are We There Yet?: Family Road Trip Guide to America’s Roadside Oddities: I own quite a few books about quirky roadside Americana, but this one rocketed to the top of my list. A must-read for road-trippers, curiosity-seekers, and anyone who loves the strange side of the open road.
• Baja California Road and Travel Atlas: This book is absolutely ESSENTIAL when traveling south of the border in Baja California, Mexico.
