“And she said, ‘Don’t hate. Hate is like a poison you make for your enemy that you end up swallowing yourself.’” ―David Duchovny

Need an excuse to celebrate? Today is National Sloppy Joe Day!

On this day in history: 1990 – In the largest art theft in U.S. history, 12 paintings, collectively worth around $500 million, are stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. (If you want to learn more about this, we recommend this book!)

13 tips about work camping that will point you to success

By Nanci Dixon
Ever think about work camping? Cutting costs and staying in an area longer? Getting to know more people in a more permanent venue? We hadn’t really considered it until we met a campground host in Arizona our first year full-timing. My husband is always needing something to do and enjoys having people around, so becoming a campground host seemed like the perfect job while we were there for the winter.

The host introduced us to the park supervisor. He had an opening! After hearing my husband’s qualifications, we got the job! We had planned a short trip to Joshua Tree National Park, so he asked us to start when we got back. “Do you want us to train before we leave?” I asked him. He said no.

Ask Dave

I have several questions about storing my motorhome in Florida

Dear Dave,
We are relatively new at RVing and motorhomes. We live in the Vero Beach area (South Florida) and leave our coach outside during the winter and whenever we aren’t traveling. There is no need to “winterize” it. We have a gravel/shell pad to park it on near our house and typically leave it hooked up to a 30-amp plug we had installed that passes through to our house fuse box. …

Palomino Pause Reboot 19.4: Champ of off-grid camping

By Tony Barthel
Today’s RV review is of the 2024 Palomino Pause Reboot 19.4. This is a newly-announced member of the Palomino Pause series of overlanding trailers that have been quite a surprise to those familiar with the Palomino brand. … I think the reason that the term “reboot” applies to this newest member of the Pause family is that it’s a bit less well-equipped in terms of over-the-top features. It’s still a premium trailer with standout features, but this is more of a normal approach to trailer design within the extraordinary appeal of these Pause models.

Quick Tip

Correct RV tire pressure saves them

Keeping RV tires at the right inflation saves them. Too much pressure—uneven tread wear. Too little pressure—risk ruining the tires from over-heating, plus uneven wear. Tires give off air even without actual “leaks,” so check them before you start out on a trip, and at least weekly on the road.

Recipe of the Day

Corned Beef Hash

by Tammy Bovender

We loved this rustic corned beef hash recipe. It has crispy potatoes, deliciously seasoned corned beef and caramelized onions. Everything cooks together until the flavors marry beautifully. It’s a savory dish that’s made even better with a fried egg on top. Delicious comfort food! If you have leftover corned beef from St. Patrick’s Day you can use that.

Trivia

It is illegal for the U.S. Treasury to print any living person on its currency. The story goes that back in 1866 the Superintendent of the National Currency Bureau, Spencer M. Clark, issued a 5-cent bill that featured his face. Clark wasn’t exactly well-liked because of several scandals he had been involved in, so shortly after the release of his 5-cent bill, the next appropriations bill was amended to include a prohibition against putting the face of any living person on any currency. Now you know!

Your “Laugh” is offensive to vertically challenged people everywhere! This should be removed and wiped from the memory of the entire world!

Hi, Richard. That made me think: Can’t tall people also be considered vertically challenged? I was 6’2″ tall most of my life and thought that was challenging at times (especially when in school). I’ve shrunk to 6′, thanks to age (77) and gravity. Have a great day! 😀 –Diane at RVtravel.com

Thank you, Emily and Diane! 🙂 I did buy DW several tension-release, relaxation, desktop games when she was a DC lawyer. I think that I played with them more than she did even though I was in her office less than 12 times/year. Have a great week! 🙂

I’ll bet if you could find one of Spencer M. Clark’s 5-cent bills you would have something worth a bunch of money (much more than 5¢!).

I manually check tire pressure prior to every departure – I also have a TPMS, but this gives a check on the electronics too. I mounted the tire gauge on the floor at the entry door so it is easy and in full sight.

I have been reading others negative comments on the ads here on RVtravel.com but until today i had not seen anything objectionable. Today’s post has basically the same shoe ad not once, not twice, not three times but six times! I understand the financial issues you are facing but if this continues then it might be time to stop reading RVtravel.com’s daily posts.

You need to address the ads! Quickly! Way over the top in your face and too many repeats. I know they are a revenue source but you can’t read your newsletter! Going to make your audience smaller!
