ABCs of full-time RV living
By Nanci Dixon
We used to be full-time RVers, living our dream. We belonged to that ever-growing group of adventurous people who have sold their sticks-and-bricks houses, gotten rid of almost all their belongings, and left friends and family behind to live the dream of RV living full-time.
A full-time RVer has stopped vacationing in an RV and begun calling it home. Full-time RV living is taking all of the fun and excitement of an RV vacation and combining it with the everyday chores and sometimes mundane aspects of daily living. We were living in an RV full-time and living our dream, traveling this amazing country, but our lives were still filled with “to-do” lists and everyday chores.
Living in an RV full-time: Haven’t made up your mind yet?
Full-time RV living is certainly a big decision. It is not one to make without careful, informed consideration. There are a lot of things to think about, questions to ask and explore before taking the plunge: …
Ask Dave
Hot sun bakes refrigerator in slide room. How can we cool it down?
Dear Dave,
While set up in Florida, we have the hot sun warming up the fridge in a slide. I have heard we can shade it, and I see it done, but what are the factors involved in making sure it doesn’t impact air flow while maximizing shade? Thanks. —Paul, 2016 Open Range 5th wheel

Tour the 2024 inTech Aucta Willow Rover travel trailer
[Note: In a lawsuit brought by Forest River against inTech for trademark infringement over the use of the name “Terra,” Forest River recently (early March 2024) won their case.]
In the video below, we join one of the nominees for our 2024 RV Video awards, Big Truck Big RV, for a tour of inTech’s all-new Aucta Willow travel trailer. The video shows the Rover model of this trailer. If it looks familiar, inTech used to market it under the name Terra Oasis, but it has been updated for 2024 with more than just the name.

Quick Tip
Easy way to clean your showerhead
Can’t get your RV showerhead off to clean it? Fill up a plastic storage bag with white vinegar, “bag” the shower head, and hold it in place with a rubber band or other tie. Leave it hanging overnight to dissolve mineral deposits.

• More people (31 percent) like pie more than cake (12 percent).
• When sweetening a beverage, 56 percent use regular sugar or honey, not artificial sweeteners.
• 43 percent have watched a movie on TV (with commercials) within the last few days.

Recipe of the Day
Roasted Asparagus With Tomatoes and Gorgonzola
by Marjorie Koslow from North Wales, PA
Love asparagus and feeling adventurous? Give this roasted asparagus recipe a try. Gorgonzola cheese tastes similar to blue cheese. The tomatoes are sweet and that’s a nice contrast to the tangy cheese. Roasted perfectly, the asparagus is tender with a slight crunch. It’s very easy to prepare and would be delicious alongside steak or chicken.
Trivia
The tradition of Girl Scout cookie sales dates back to 1917, when a Muskogee, OK, troop, The Mistletoe Troop, began selling sugar cookies in their high school cafeteria as a service project. Want to try out the original recipe? Find it here.

Your pups are gorgeous!
For those of you who have grown tired and annoyed by the new advertising scheme on the RVTravel newsletters, I would suggest changing your default search engine to DuckDuckGo and also load and set the DuckDuckGo browser as your default browser. You should find a much better experience reading and scrolling through the newsletters. In addition you won’t see the pop-up advertising, and the in page videos that load and start playing automatically will no longer do that. Also the annoying Google advertising at the end of the page, which often blocks some of the newsletter content will no longer appear there. Google also will not be tracking your every move. Try it.
I use Adblock plus. It does slow page loading a little, but stops most pop ups and auto videos.
I used DuckDuckGo until I switched to Brave browser. Problems solved.
Installed Duckduckgo about a week ago. Amazing difference in all my browsing! It does more than block ads.
I had a need to go to the Social Security website and was shocked that it was blocking trackers that several financial and other organizations were attemping to put on my “clicks” as I navigated that .gov website! Geez! Not safe anywhere on the web.
Duckduckgo….best browser you can install. 👍
Thank you, Mikal, for that information. I, too, have occasion to go to the Social Security Administration’s website. I will be sure to use DuckDuckGo when I visit there. Thanks again and safe travels! 🙂
I too switched to DDG about a week ago also with the same great results.
I see no ads on Firefox with an ad blocker. No reason to change to DDG. I do use their search engine though.
I turn on my VPN when browsing. It directs traffic from your ISP servers and hides your IP address. It also encrypts your personal information.
I have been using DuckDuckGo for years now. I was wondering why everyone was complaining about ads and then remembered they are probably still using google. LOL
I did and you are right, John, all ads were gone. Downside is that so too goes RV Travel’s means of existing, given how few subscribe. So, I returned to Chrome, chose DuckDuckGo as my search engine, and I wade through ads so those writing these articles get paid. Safe travels! 🙂
I had that same thought I posted a few days ago. If everyone used an adblocking search engine, how would that affect RVT income?
I don’t think I even realized that if I eliminated seeing some of the ads the writers wouldn’t be gettig paid. I’m going to maybe have to increase my donations to RV Travel.
Yes, similar to over-the-air television in that ads pay the freight. Difference is RV Travel also has subscribers. I did that, Bill. I don’t know how much higher I might need to go. The appearance of the “appeal” at the end of each article suggests to me that things are serious. Speedy recovery and safe travels, Bill. 🙂
Getting better everyday and looking forward to getting back on the road. I’ve been using my phone with chrome/ Google for the afternoon news briefs and follow ups to the daily edition and shuffling around the ads so that might help too. Thanks Neal!
Glad to hear it, Bill! 🙂 You’re very welcome! 🙂
“Fire in the Hole Cologne”. $60? Or six easy payments of $11? Maybe it’s because I haven’t bought cologne in decades and don’t know what it costs, but $60 to smell like you put your face in the campfire smoke for an hour seems a bit much. Just sayin’.
It certainly seems an odd thing to intentionally smell like smoke, Tommy. Maybe it is for campfire wannabes who don’t want to be outside. They can credibly claim that they were outside because they smell like smoke. Odd. Safe travels, Tommy! 🙂
I don’t know, Tommy.. I could sit under a shade tree on the back 40 for an afternoon and then put this cologne on just before I went inside, my wife would be thinking I had worked all day. Now if they made one that smelled like grease, oil and sweat ……
We are full timers, living here in a campground in North Carolina. We have been doing it for 8 years, much cheaper than renting or owning a home. Wish would’ve done this 20 years ago!
Since the house is paid off in NC I decided to keep it and try full time RVing. After 6 months I decided to do this on a part time basis. Glad to hear it worked out for you but for me I decided to stick with both. I do a seasonal in Maine so once they close I head south for the winter.
I did donate and I do not believe that there is any less adds in any of the RV travel. I read on a chrome book and sometimes I have about less than 1/3 of the screen to read. Please try to fix the problem. I have been a reader for more than 3yrs.
Thank you
Thank you, Emily and Diane! 🙂 Today’s pups are very cute. Thanks again and I hope you have a great day! 🙂
Thanks, Neal! We hope you have a great day, also! 😀 –Diane
You’re very welcome. 🙂 Thank you, Diane! 🙂

I got lucky twice with a pet photo like that. It just happened the first time with the three amigos. In that photo the two brothers passed away within a year of each other and with the sister was able, thru bribes with the newest brother and sister got a great photo again last summer. She is the last of the original 3 amigos. When she passes it will be 2 amigos. But I love this 3 amigo photo.
