Campsite theft gets weird and personal
By Cheri Sicard
Some people expect wild animal encounters or questionable bathrooms when camping, but nobody really thinks their biggest problem will be theft—especially not theft of something so oddly personal. After more than a decade of carefree camping, Andy and Wendy from The Camping Loop finally got hit by campground robbers, and the story is almost too strange to believe.

By Paul Lacitinola
How can a voyage on the Orient Express inspire someone to create a custom vintage trailer? This 1954 Boles-Aero Montecito was originally purchased new in Burbank, California, where it was manufactured. After several owners, Dave and Billie O’Neel bought the Boles in 2015. Expanded showering opportunities
Got a BIG family or lots of traveling companions? You may find that the RV shower and associated gray water holding tank just aren’t big enough for the whole mob. Consider picking up a “solar shower” system. Heated by the sun and used outdoors, it’s great for showering down after a swim. There are several to choose from at Amazon starting at less than $20.

Readers’ pet of the day
“This is Lucy, our 14-year-old Collie/Beagle baby. She rescued us when she was 6 months old. She has always loved to go for a ride, but has slowed down recently due to vertigo. When she does travel with us, she loves to go for a walk (which is what she’s waiting on when I took this picture).” —Lori & Bill Scoggins

Socrates was incorrect. You can’t even make some of them think if that is not their desire.
The survey says only 9% are addicted to their phones. Maybe only 9% admitted to it.
Just look around at how many have their phones in their hand all the time.
Even in a restaurant, probably 30% are using their phones.
Then you have the ones that use the speakerphone in public places.
Lucy looks like a real sweetheart! You’re lucky she rescued you!
When you use a shower external to your RV, the grey water goes directly on the ground. And tenters usually dump dish washing water on their site. When you use an internal shower or sink, the grey water has to go into an approved sewer system. And nobody thinks anything about it.
When we built our home in the country, there were lots of codes for the septic system. The plumber laughed and quipped: “They have all these codes for a septic system, but if you get it pumped they just spread the contents on nearby farm fields!!!”
Rinsing off sand, or salt water, isn’t the same as showering inside with soap and shampoo!
If you cut off the stalk end of an ear of corn far enough that the husk isn’t attached to the end, wrap it in paper towels, and heat in the microwave for 3 minutes you can then squeeze the tassel end and the ear will slip out with no silk. We do all of our corn this way now.
I do the same, but never with the paper towel. Just lay the ear on a plate and cook for a few minutes. Why do you use a paper towel?
I don’t use a paper towel nor do I cut off the end first. I nuke it in the husk, then cut off the end and it’slides right out silk free.
Betty, that’s exactly how we do it. No need for paper towel.
I have never seen a shingled RV roof.
