Tip of the day
The best fly and bee repellent ever! Pine-Sol to the rescue

By Nanci Dixon
The flies are swarming, and the wasps and bees are buzzing en masse! Our light-covered picnic tablecloth was so covered with flies and bees that I would not have even attempted to set the table or eat at it.

I remembered a tip I had read about cutting down on their numbers and decided to try it. And guess what? It worked! Immediately! Here’s what I did.

The easiest way to fly a flag from your RV

It’s always great to see so many RVers proudly displaying flags while out on the road or at campgrounds. It’s a tradition that really brings out the sense of community and patriotism among us. Recently, one of our Facebook members in our Grand Design RV Owners Group shared a really cool suction cup flag holder for RVs, and I couldn’t be prouder to highlight it here.

Blister balm prevents blisters. Here, a woman is applying it to the back of her footNever get a blister again!
Gail Marsh writes, “Hiking and walking long distances would be great if it weren’t for the blisters! If that’s been your excuse, you definitely need this! I absolutely love that this is a product for blister prevention. Yes, you read that correctly! It prevents blisters! Doesn’t that sound a whole lot better than finding a great first-aid bandage after blisters have already formed? I thought so, too. So if you’re a walker, hiker, or just need to break in a new pair of shoes, trust me, you need this!

WHAT PERCENT OF RV TRAVEL READERS’ RVs HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY DAMAGED BY HAIL? 5%, 11% or 19%? Answer below.

Quick tip
Avoid burning food in the RV’s gas oven

When baking, to even out the cooking, here’s another suggestion for using gas RV ovens. Mary L. suggests using a heat deflector. If you can’t find one at a kitchen supply store, take a cookie sheet, turn it wrong side up on the oven rack and place your baking dish/pan on top of it. This eliminates food burned to the bottom of the dish. Thanks, Mary!

Readers’ pets of the day

“Both boys (mixed breeds, ages 9 and 7) love agility, rallies, and tricks. They travel very well. Marley endures quietly, waiting for the destination, while Hickory actually enjoys the smells and sights during travel.” —Deborah Mason

You would need a small backhoe to clean up after that Mastiff 🙂

Each plastic water bottle contains around 250,000 plastic particles. These micro particles have been found everywhere, including the brain. What could possibly go wrong?

Question about the blister prevention product .. It sounds like a ‘waxy’ substance that keeps the shoe/sock from sliding on the skin. Is that correct? If so, could a product like Chapstick or Burt’s Bees provide a similar solution?
Thanks.

A silky sock next to the skin, with a wool or heavy cotton one on top. In my case, I participated in a race (I walked!) for the first time ever and wore support hose under wool ones. I had NO blisters.
