Tire size mistake triggers recall of popular Winnebago travel trailers

A Winnebago tire label recall has been issued for 377 of the company’s popular towable RVs after it was discovered that some carried the wrong tire size information. The recall affects certain 2019 Micro Minnie5, Minnie Drop, 2020 Minnie Plus5, 2018–2021 Minnie, and 2022 Hike 100 travel trailers.

Because the Federal tire label may list an incorrect tire size, these units fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 110, “Tire Selection and Rims.” Misprinted labels could lead owners to install oversized replacement tires that don’t properly fit, increasing the risk of a crash.

Winnebago tire label recall remedy

Winnebago will mail correct labels to owners for installation, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 12, 2025. Owners may contact Winnebago customer service at 1-574-825-5280 ext. 5220. Winnebago’s number for this recall is CAM0000045.

Background

In mid-August, Winnebago’s Product Safety team received a customer complaint about a label showing the wrong tire size. The issue involved both the Compliance Label and the Tire Loading Information Placard. After looking into the report, the company launched a formal investigation in late September. On October 8, 2025, Winnebago’s Product Safety Committee reviewed the findings and confirmed there was a compliance problem.

So what happened? Somebody at Winnebago apparently goofed when they put the tire information into the computer system.

“Somebody at Winnebago apparently goofed …” I don’t think I have heard “goofed” since I left the Mid-West. Some goo fed person did it again.

I wondering how changing the label (with the new tire size info) affects the RV Load capacity? It’s pretty hard to change tire size and not also change load capacity. We would need to know the specifics of the before and after tire size to know the effect on total RV load capacity.
