Many of our readers use the Blackstone Griddle (and others) as camp cooking accessories, so I thought a tutorial on the best griddle cooking temperatures would be handy. In the video below, griddle cooking expert Johnny Brunet, from Griddle With Johnny, gives us the lowdown.
Johnny says he never cooks by what the knobs say. Instead, he uses a thermometer to get the optimal cooking and grilling temperature for various foods. In the video he shows you how, so be sure to watch for details and additional tips from Johnny.
Johnny Brunet’s best griddle cooking temperatures
If you don’t want to watch the video, here is the essential information:
• 300–325 degrees F: Eggs, omelets, toasting buns, hot dogs
• 350–375 degrees F: Grilled chicken, ground beef, fried rice, bacon, sausage, pancakes, breakfast potatoes, regular hamburgers (as opposed to smash burgers), steaks (after searing), vegetables
• 425–450 degrees F: Searing steak, smash burgers
One more tip: Johnny says there is never any reason to exceed 450 degrees Fahrenheit for anything; it’s just too high.
