Walmart recalls 201,000 Ozark Trail camping stoves – Stop using immediately

Walmart has recalled the Ozark Trail Tabletop 1-Burner Butane Camping Stove with the warning: Stop using immediately.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) says the stoves can explode or catch fire.

Which stoves are recalled?

Stoves affected by the recall are sold under the Ozark Trail name by Walmart retailers. The unit is dark green with an orange Ozark Trail logo on the front and carries model number BG2247A1 on a gray label inside the fuel compartment.

The CPSC says these units were sold at Walmart stores and Walmart.com between March 2023 and October 2025. Stoves were priced between about $8 and $45. Roughly 201,000 units are included in the recall.

Recall reality

The manufacturer has reported multiple incidents of stoves exploding or catching fire. Several consumers report suffering burns in the reported events. That’s why the federal agency stepped in and why Walmart has pulled the product.

Compensation

Walmart is warning people to stop using the stove immediately and to return the product to any Walmart store for a full refund.

You can also get information and assistance through Walmart’s customer support channels or the recall page on Walmart’s corporate site.

The CPSC recall notice lists consumer contact information for both Walmart and the CPSC for questions or to report incidents.

Immediate steps

If you currently have the recalled stove, do not use it. Make sure it’s not near flammables when you transport it back to a store. Do not try to repair, modify, or continue using it.

If the stove exploded or caused personal injury, report the incident to the CPSC’s reporting portal.

If you want a refund without a store trip, check Walmart’s recall help page or call their customer line here: 800-925-6278.

I bought exact model from Cabela’s 10 years ago. Only red in colour. And yes it started on fire in the fuel compartment. Luckily this time we were not on the boat.
