Be careful. Dangerous storm underway
A massive winter storm stretching more than 2,000 miles is disrupting travel and causing power outages across much of the United States, with impacts expected to continue into next week. Forecasters say more than 200 million people could be affected by freezing rain, ice, heavy snow and bitter cold as the storm moves from Texas to the Carolinas and into the Northeast. Road conditions may be dangerous or impassable in areas hit by ice.

In the Northeast, some areas could receive up to 1 to 2 feet of snow, while officials warn that prolonged power outages combined with Arctic cold could leave more than a million people without heat or electricity for days.

RV travel trends for 2026 show a shift to slower, smarter travel

Every year, a new wave of RV travel reports comes out, packed with charts, forecasts, and trend predictions. People still want freedom, flexibility, and the ability to travel on their own terms; that part hasn’t changed (and that’s why we love RVing!). What is changing is how RVers are planning trips, where they’re going, and what kind of travel feels, well, worth the effort. Here’s what’s “trending” for 2026 (so far).

What it was like using ChatGPT to plan my RV trip. Did it work?

Two disclaimers on RV trip planning with ChatGPT before we begin: 1) I hate trip planning, and 2) I am not overly fond of AI, either. As a longtime print writer, I have been dragged, kicking and screaming, into the AI age. However, these two things, put together, made planning my latest journey so much easier! Yes, I actually used ChatGPT to plan a 3-month-long snowbirding RV trip, and I have to admit, I was impressed.

Key things to consider if you’re thinking about downsizing your RV

So, you’ve decided to downsize your RV. Reasons aside, don’t overlook these important points. While a floor plan is perhaps a starting point when downsizing, nothing beats an actual walk-through of the RV you’re considering. Why? This is a new offering from Jayco and may answer a lot of the questions RVers have been asking, at least from a floor plan standpoint. But with a taller 7’ interior height, this unit could also be something that literally fits a wider, well, taller section of RVers. But first, down below we go.

I thought it might be fun to covertly incorporate the various RV model names into a story and challenge you to find the names I’ve “hidden” in the story. I’ll get you started. The first RV model name mentioned is Berkshire. It is one of only four RV models that I’ve capitalized. Try to find the remaining 21.

How performing a simple 90-day seal check helps with warranty claims

Did you know that nearly every RV sold in the U.S. requires that you inspect the seals on the outside of the unit, typically every 90 days or so. What does this mean? Basically, you look at the seals around the RV and make sure that they’re still doing their job. You know, sealing. Simple! But what happens if you find a leak or a seal that needs to be repaired? “One big reason battery terminals corrode is that they are not clean and tight. Remove the clamp and use a terminal brush to polish the battery post and the inside of the clamp, and tighten firmly. There are special battery terminal greases out there. They are specifically formulated to help stop corrosion. DO NOT put anything on the battery posts or inside the terminal.
