BREAKING NEWS
Be careful. Dangerous storm underway
A massive winter storm stretching more than 2,000 miles is disrupting travel and causing power outages across much of the United States, with impacts expected to continue into next week. Forecasters say more than 200 million people could be affected by freezing rain, ice, heavy snow and bitter cold as the storm moves from Texas to the Carolinas and into the Northeast. Road conditions may be dangerous or impassable in areas hit by ice.
In the Northeast, some areas could receive up to 1 to 2 feet of snow, while officials warn that prolonged power outages combined with Arctic cold could leave more than a million people without heat or electricity for days.
RV travel trends for 2026 show a shift to slower, smarter travel
Every year, a new wave of RV travel reports comes out, packed with charts, forecasts, and trend predictions. People still want freedom, flexibility, and the ability to travel on their own terms; that part hasn’t changed (and that’s why we love RVing!). What is changing is how RVers are planning trips, where they’re going, and what kind of travel feels, well, worth the effort. Here’s what’s “trending” for 2026 (so far).
What it was like using ChatGPT to plan my RV trip. Did it work?
By Cheri Sicard
Two disclaimers on RV trip planning with ChatGPT before we begin: 1) I hate trip planning, and 2) I am not overly fond of AI, either. As a longtime print writer, I have been dragged, kicking and screaming, into the AI age. However, these two things, put together, made planning my latest journey so much easier! Yes, I actually used ChatGPT to plan a 3-month-long snowbirding RV trip, and I have to admit, I was impressed.
Key things to consider if you’re thinking about downsizing your RV
So, you’ve decided to downsize your RV. Reasons aside, don’t overlook these important points. While a floor plan is perhaps a starting point when downsizing, nothing beats an actual walk-through of the RV you’re considering. Why? Because every potential RV buyer should “practice” how they really live in their RV. It’s the only way to ensure the rig you buy is right for you. Continue reading.
Today’s RV review…
Jayco Eagle HT 275RBCS—the high ceiling is niiiiice
Today’s RV review is of the 2026 Jayco Eagle HT 275RBCS travel trailer. This is a new offering from Jayco and may answer a lot of the questions RVers have been asking, at least from a floor plan standpoint. But with a taller 7’ interior height, this unit could also be something that literally fits a wider, well, taller section of RVers. But first, down below we go.

Tiny, portable air purifier is RV-sized
If your RV ever smells a little too much like last night’s dinner—or the campground fire pit—this compact air purifier is a quiet hero. It uses a true HEPA filter to trap dust, pollen, smoke, pet dander, and odors, runs whisper-quiet in sleep mode, and is small enough for an RV, car, or bedside table. With simple touch controls and USB-C power, it’s an easy way to keep the air fresh and breathable wherever you park. Check it out.
RANDOM RV THOUGHT: Somewhere in your RV is a chair that has emotionally claimed one person forever.
How to pay the lowest price for a product on Amazon

Class A motorhomes vs. 5th wheels—Complete pros and cons guide
Buying a big RV can feel like choosing between a condo on wheels and a rolling suite. Here, our favorite certified RV inspector, Duane of the RV Inspection And Care channel, compares two top picks for people who want lots of space, slides, and comfort: a large Class A motorhome (often a diesel pusher) and a larger fifth wheel. He also notes that many of the Class A points apply to Super C motorhomes, too. Continue reading.
Can you find the RV model names hidden throughout this story?
By Gail Marsh
Having just visited Tampa’s huge RV show, my head is spinning from all the different brands and models. I thought it might be fun to covertly incorporate the various RV model names into a story and challenge you to find the names I’ve “hidden” in the story. I’ll get you started. The first RV model name mentioned is Berkshire. It is one of only four RV models that I’ve capitalized. Try to find the remaining 21.

How performing a simple 90-day seal check helps with warranty claims
Did you know that nearly every RV sold in the U.S. requires that you inspect the seals on the outside of the unit, typically every 90 days or so. What does this mean? Basically, you look at the seals around the RV and make sure that they’re still doing their job. You know, sealing. Simple! But what happens if you find a leak or a seal that needs to be repaired? And what if water has gotten in, and now you hope to file a warranty claim? Not simple! Continue reading. (This is important!)
WHAT IS YOUR WISH FOR 2026? “I want to Snowbird winter in the U.S. again, but I can’t until Canada feels like they are valued and respected by your federal government.” —Leonard R.

Cold, snowy, and icy? No problem!
Stock up on some snow melt and have it on hand when you need it. It’s only January (sorry to remind you). Kind Melt is the snow and ice melt we recommend because it’s safe for the environment and your furry friends. It works in seconds to melt snow and ice on driveways, sidewalks, roads, campsites… You get the point. There are many other safe brands, too.
Reader comments this week:
“One big reason battery terminals corrode is that they are not clean and tight. Remove the clamp and use a terminal brush to polish the battery post and the inside of the clamp, and tighten firmly. There are special battery terminal greases out there. They are specifically formulated to help stop corrosion. DO NOT put anything on the battery posts or inside the terminal. These greases are dielectric, which means they do not conduct electricity.” —Bob
“Studies have shown that people who curse are more intelligent.” —Brenda B.
“At Walmart, I always return all the carts I see in the RV area. I also pick up trash, leaving it cleaner than I found it.” —Bob W.
“Would someone tell the guy/gal who does the weather map that we now have enough snow. Thank you very much.” —Impavid
“Not all Buc-ee’s welcome RVs. They are crowded and not designed for them. Getting into and out of one can be a challenge. One can usually find less expensive fuel elsewhere. If you have a large RV or are towing, look out!” —Jay S.

RV gadgets and gizmos
Flat towing hasn’t changed much, but battery disconnects finally have
Flat towing a car behind a motorhome looks much the same today as it did years ago. The hookups are familiar, the steps are routine, and most RVers have the process down cold. Yet one frustration hasn’t gone away. After a long day on the road, you unhook—only to discover the towed car won’t start. That’s why a recent product release from Roadmaster caught our attention.
The ‘Fasta Pasta’ pasta cooker cooks pasta perfectly; minimal water and no propane
Nanci Dixon writes, “This is my new favorite ‘As seen on TV’ pasta cooker. It really is perfect for the RV!” To cook the perfect pasta all you do is add pasta and water, and microwave. It uses little water and no propane—no “real” cooking involved. Read Nanci’s review of it here or order one here. It’s great!

The warning signs of diabetes
Diabetes is a lifelong disease that affects almost 12% of people in the United States—more than 38 million—according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Many of these people are often undiagnosed, putting them at risk of complications. There are some symptoms to watch out for, as well, that indicate you might have diabetes.

RV tire safety
TPMS: Some history and basic information – Part 2
By Roger Marble
Last week, I covered some history of why cars and some trucks are now required to have tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS). … Since most RV motorhomes have gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) in excess of 10,000 lbs., they are not required by law to have a TPMS. But over the last 15 years or so, many in the RV community have seen the advantage of having such a system. Continue reading for Roger’s strong recommendation to have a TPMS.

A waterhole in the heart of Namibia, Africa, within Gondwana Namib Park
Don’t see any animals right now? Take your cursor and scroll back several hours—you’ll see zebras, cheetahs, warthogs… everything! It’s amazing! According to Google: “The water in the Gondwana Namib Park (Namib Desert Lodge) waterhole is supplied by an artificial, solar-powered borehole that pumps water from a deep underground aquifer into a nearby reservoir. A float valve automatically regulates the water level, refilling it as it evaporates or is consumed by animals.” [Be sure you have the sound turned on.]
The easiest way to steam veggies

WHAT IS YOUR WISH FOR 2026? “I wish honesty would come back. Honesty in business, honesty in social media, honesty in the news, honesty in child-raising, honesty in our schools, honesty with family and friends, even honesty within ourselves. It seems as if society has made a major shift to the idea of ‘If I say the lie enough times, then it will be true.’ It seems people lie to promote an agenda, to make money, to promote themselves, or sometimes because they just don’t want to be the bearer of bad news. Honestly, society can handle the truth. 🙂 ” —Susan R.
Trivia
In the U.S., skin cancer most often appears on the left side of the body. Why? Think about driving down the road in your RV. Yup, your left arm is exposed to all that sunlight!

Steaming veggies in a plastic container in a microwave is a very easy way to get more microplastics into your diet!

That’s my Groot! He’s 10 now.
Groot appears to be the king of the mountain, I’m so glad he enjoys hiking and bodies of water. Keep on camping.
We were camping in AZ last week and when we got home he was so upset, he wouldn’t get out of the truck. He wanted to go back to camping. He’s over it now, but looks forward to the next trip.
