In the video below, we join Gabby of RVs with Gabby for a tour of the 2024 Airstream Basecamp 20X.
This is a sleek, quality trailer with everything you need for off-grid adventures, which is what the X in the name signifies. This means more ground and tank clearance and other features to enhance the off-road and off-grid experience.
I love the propane tank cover with a built-in storage compartment above the tanks. I am not sure why more manufacturers don’t do this!
The top of the rig is outfitted with a rail so that you can attach a variety of Keder Rail Accessories to increase the Basecamp’s functionality.
Inside is larger than you might think. The front has a U-shaped dinette that, of course, converts to a bed. The back also features a large convertible seating and sleeping area with a small table. Need two twin beds? No problem. One larger bed? You can do that too!
In between the two beds is a small but functional wet bath and a small kitchen with fridge, microwave, and 2-burner stove. For additional food storage, the back under-floor storage is outfitted with a drain so it can be used as a cooler. Smart!

These things start at over $62,000! ….Not MY $62k!!!
I just can’t justify the price of Airstream, no matter how they spin it. Four years ago I was this close to buying a Flying Cloud, until I climbed into one at the end of June. On a dealer’s lot. Outdoors in the sun. Not plugged in. It was an OVEN! Plus the reviews are not that great on overall quality, they are a Thor company afterall…
I guarantee you it doesn’t have 3000 watts of solar, even for 62K
