Okay, shoe lovers. It’s time for you to confess! Tell us how many pairs of shoes you bring with you when you travel in your RV. Just include your shoes, not your partner’s shoes or anyone else’s who may travel with you.
Do you just carry one or two pairs—only what you really need? Or about five or six? 10? 15? More than 15? Wow!
We know space is tight in an RV, so every pair counts. But sometimes it’s hard to leave behind those “just in case” shoes—the ones you might need for a special hike, a beach walk, or a fancy dinner out. And if the seasons change while you’re on the road? That’s even more reason to bring variety.
If you have that many shoes, you’ll probably want to read Nanci Dixon’s article about a place you probably haven’t thought of to store shoes in your RV… It could help you out!
We get it—different shoes serve different purposes. Hiking boots, sandals, sneakers, shower shoes, maybe a pair of dress shoes for a nice dinner out… it adds up fast. And if you’re full-timing, it’s easy to justify packing for all occasions.
So, be honest. Are you a minimalist or a full-on shoe hoarder? If you’re willing to admit the number out loud, leave a comment and tell us exactly how many pairs of shoes you have. Thanks!

Shower slides, mud shoes, sneakers. Not going to a ball.
Always 3 – good sneakers, mud sneakers, and Crocs for wearing in the bathhouse.
All of them 😁
Full-time RVers
two for me if you count Flip-Flops, I can’t count the Wife’s shoes as they are scattered all over the place.
Ed, I’m glad I read comments before I answered. You answered for me.
My slides by LLBean, my sneakers and my slippers that are always on board. That’s it, that’s enough.
Slippers & shower footwear stay in the little camper. In addition I bring everyday shoes and a spare pair for bad weather. Now in the large seasonal trailer there are another pair of slippers, beach or shower shoes, muck boots (mud or snow – yes it happens), cowboy boots (it is in Texas), dress shoes (just in case) and the previously mentioned two pairs.
Sturdy hiking shoes, sneakers, slides
Full time here, but even with a house usually one kept 3 pair…summer sandals, winter clogs, and hiking shoes. My mother always said if they are looking at your feet, there’s something wrong with the rest of you!!
Just soft-sided SAS shoes and sandals.
Thank you for the question, RV Travel! I usually bring 3 or 4. I voted for “4-8.” If it is 4, then 3 are in the closet and I wear the fourth to drive. I think that I brought 5 for our trip to Alaska, including a pair of muck boots, which I have not really needed so far. Have a great day and safe travels!
Are Crocs, swim shoes, and flip-flops considered shoes? I carry two pair of tennis style shoes and dress shoes. Crocs stay in the RV and sit by the door to slip into if I need to go outside for something, flip-flops are for bath houses, and swim shoes are just that. We used to keep hiking boots in the RV but our hiking days are long past.
My wife and I generally bring 3 pairs of shoes or less, each” sandals, sneakers, sometimes beach/pool shoes. Sometimes my wife brings flip-flops but I don’t like them myself.
