Some of us love roller coasters, and some of us are terrified of roller coasters! Where do you stand?
Some people chase the thrill—the rush of wind in their hair, the clack-clack-clack of the climb, the heart-pounding plunge into the first drop. Others prefer to watch from the ground with a churro or corn dog in hand, perfectly happy to let others do the screaming.
And then there are the in-betweeners, the ones who get talked into “just one ride” and end up loving (or regretting) every second.
If you were at an amusement park right now and there was a roller coaster in front of you, would you hop on for a ride? Would it depend on the roller coaster, like if it went upside-down or not? What if it were an old wooden coaster? What about those coasters with the huuuuuge drops?
If you’re an RVer, you can make roller coasters part of your travel route. Imagine waking up in a different town, strolling into a new park, and testing your courage on coasters you’ve never seen before. For some, that’s a dream itinerary—adventure on wheels, indeed!
Some people even travel all over the world to try new roller coasters. It’s hard to deny that some of the parks they’re building these days are amazing!

No I’m good. Just like watching horror films something else I won’t do.
Depends on the coaster.
Not any more. On-line video ride-alongs are enough for me.
In my younger years a definite yes, but these days, probably not
Heart and Soul say “Yes!” Neck and Back say “Nope!”
The best part is free-fall. Although as I age, the G-forces are not as much fun.
The Matterhorn at Disneyland is as brave as I’ve ever been.
Nope. No roller coaster. But I do ride the CloudScraper Zip line over the Royal Gorge in Colorado!
I like coasters but my wife doesn’t, so I rarely ride one because I don’t like riding them by myself.
Definitely not! I get motion sick too easily. That takes all the fun out of it.
In spirit…YES! In reality, not any more. Age & neck fusion surgery make that impossible. But back in the day I loved them all.
If you wish to fly or ride in a jet fighter – ride the biggest coaster you can find. Akin to aerobatics or a “dog fight”! Even some smaller coasters can give you similar sensations. Have fun – not for me anymore! (In fact, not much for me before – as I have a hard time trusting the maintenance on hi-speed rides with moving parts!)
no I would not. Last ride I was on was 35 years ago. Thought for sure I was going to throw up. I said Lord get me off this ride and I’ll never get on another. And I haven’t. And I didn’t throw up.
Heck yes!! I used to have a yearly annual passes to Magic Mt in Valencia!! (2 hour drive) Back in the day they used to have a section for children’s rides and it was so fun to take my son…we parents would take turns with the kids and with the adult rides. We also went with my College’s Physics Club…we would take accelerometers to see how fast we are really going 😄 good times!!
When daughter was somewhere around 5 years, I took her on the kiddie coaster. It threw my back out to where I could not stand up straight and it pretty much ended our stay at the fair. Daughter was devastated that she had hurt her daddy. After having watched fair ride erector sets come in on trucks and watching them being assembled, I would not trust any of them.
I rode the wooden coaster at Venice beach, California in the late 1940s. I don’t know if it or the pier exists any more. Once was enough. But then years later I was enticed to go on the Disneyland Matter Horn ride. This is a theme ride that tells a story, but it is still a dark roller coaster and once was more than enough. I have an aversion to heights and don’t even like Ferris wheels.
I’m 72 years old and think I have ridden on a roller coaster twice. I never enjoyed them but I’m not that excited about going to any amusement park at all.
Hated that I had to vote Definitely No. Love coasters, but vertigo keeps me off of them now…..hum…..wonder if it would cure it!?

I did ride roller coasters when I was younger, and didn’t like them then. Now that I’m older definitely not
