• Mohave County, Arizona, 1 acre, about $3,400. No HOA, corner lot, easy road access, about 30 minutes from Yucca. Annual taxes are around $848. RVs allowed, but always confirm if full-time stays are legal year-round. No utilities on site.
• Wellton, Arizona, Coyote Wash. Two lots for rent with 50 amp service. One 75 by 125 lot for sale around $130,000 with an RV cover. Another option showed two lots with water and electric in place, water needs connection at the road, about $25,000.
• Near Gatesville, Texas, 50 minutes west of Waco. One pull-through and one back-in, both about 40 feet, 50 amp, and full hookups. About $69,900.
Mid-range Arizona

High-end Florida resorts

• River Ranch RV Resort, near Orlando, about $158,000. Deeded lot. Fire pit, cafe lights, pavers, grilling zone, privacy hedges, and golf cart parking. Steps to pools and pickleball. HOA is about $875 per quarter.
A standout deal: Smugglers Roost, southwest New Mexico
Smugglers Roost offers a 99-year renewable lease, which functions like lifetime ownership. Three lots were offered as a bundle for about $42,000, or around $14,000 each. The community has its own aquifer, an astronomy crowd, quiet nights, and is about 15 minutes from a good store. Monthly costs often come down to electricity and any store or laundry charges. Legal checks that save money
• Confirm zoning for full-time RV living and duration rules. (Note from Cheri: A good case in point is some California desert property I bought that allows short-term camping on the land, but not full-time living.)

Seasonal bouncing works well. Think Quartzsite in winter, home base in spring, mountain towns like Eagle Nest in summer. If buying is not an option, try camp hosting for a free site in exchange for about 25 hours a week. Boondock on public land and chase 70-degree days to save for a lot later.

At this point in our life, I am trying to simplify, simplify and not purchase real property for heirs to deal with. A leased lot sounds like a pretty good alternative.
Have you been to Animas, NM, and Smuggler’s Roost? A combination gas station-hardware-lumber yard-grocery store, a post office, a school, and a liquor store make up the village center. You can order groceries from the nearest real grocery store 37 miles away in Lordsburg. A problem for seniors may be that the nearest city with a medical center is 140 miles away in Las Cruces. But, yeah, it’s definitely quiet!
We enjoy our RV lot at Boulder Oaks RV Resort by Hoover Dam. Prices are around $160k for a deeded lot. HOA is $185/month which includes pool, spa, laundry room, fitness center, gathering room and landscaping. It’s a great place to explore the southwest.
You could do what I did and buy a lot up for tax sale. Just have to check how the state does tax sales.
Escapees Co-Op parks are a good option to explore.
