Tricks for beating the heat while RVing

The temperatures are already on the rise and that means the annual battle against the heat is gearing up. We all can use some tips and tricks to beat the heat while RVing. Follow these tips and stay cool this summer.
The basics
If you’ve been RVing for a while, you may already know some of the basics for keeping the RV interior cool. Like the following:
- Park your RV in the shade whenever possible.
- Angle your RV when parking so windows won‘t get direct sunlight.
- Let cool morning air freshen and cool your RV interior but close up your rig well before temperatures rise.
- Extend your RV’s awning to shade your rig from the sun.
- Make sure to keep the A/C, fan, filters, and other components clean and in good working condition.

How do I find the source of a leak when shower is on?

Dear Dave,
I bought my Retro from a private party and so far have been quite happy with her. I had an inspection done prior to purchase. But on a recent trip when my guest took a shower, we noticed some small leaks of water coming from under the bathroom “closet” right at the floor. It did not appear to be coming from the door. I checked the shower pan and found no cracks, and the seals are intact. Where could this be coming from? Thanks. —Terry, 2015 Whitewater Riverside Retro 177

Roadside emergency equipment to keep on hand
I’m sure you’ve seen semi-trucks along the side of the road with three triangular reflectors spaced out behind it. They are there to alert people to move over a lane as the rig is disabled for some reason. These triangles are inexpensive and should be in your RV safety emergency kit along with several flashlights and road flares to signal a night breakdown. You might also want to have an orange vest with night vision strips on it. Obviously, the best piece of emergency equipment is a cell phone to call for help. —From So, You Want to be an RVer? Combining two classics – a Philly cheesesteak and a French dip – creates a fantastic sandwich combination. The roast cooks all day, low and slow, making the meat very tender. It’s perfectly seasoned and the broth is great for dipping. A great option if you’re serving a crowd or just want to be lazy but still need to prepare a meal.

IMHO, The Pioneer Woman is one of the most annoying Food Network hosts out there. Is she still pretending to be in lockdown mode, filming with no production company and only using cell phones? Ridiculous.
Sounds like you should just skip her show & find one that suits your better. I like her & her show. Everyone likes something different, makes the world go round.
As my original post states, just my opinion. Long ago I took your advice and no longer watch her show – relieved to no longer hear her annoying voice.

Roadside emergency equipment–a must have is a neon Orange or yellow vest! They’re really cheap. Our first roadside emergency, we were fortunate to have one with us. Decided after that we needed a second one and got one with pockets! We made sure it’s large enough to be worn over a heavy coat, since we leave town in the middle of winter. We had a second time we needed to stop on the side of the road and were glad we both had vests on.
I have seen this a lot. I just checked prices and RV products are priced higher.

This is the same with motorcycle stuff, boating stuff, and a raft of other things. ‘Specialty tools’ vs Harbor Freight.
So if you put RV on anything it’s more expensive? Just like you put the word medical on anything and it skyrockets in price.
The picture of the screwdriver is true. Our Government pays 100 times that amount.

The mystery product sunglasses are expensive, but many cheap knock-offs also are available. Might work well to wear while mowing and not miss any important phone calls because I can’t otherwise hear the phone ring. Earbuds are adequate; wonder if these would be better? Put “Airplane screwdriver” on the package and watch the price go up five times over. Change it to “Government screwdriver” and it takes on a whole other meaning.
True enough but it needs to be made to at least 10 years specifications.
Put a pink handle on it and the price doubles.

I’ve gone so far down wrong roads that I had no choice but to turn back, however I have found each wrong road to have some excitement in it.
A marine screwdriver costs double that.
