Trailer sway: Causes, cures, and avoiding a disaster

New travel trailer users beware. A big boogieman lurking around the next curve could be your undoing. Trailer sway! The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration reports that about 50,000 trailer sway accidents are reported each year. And many of these are preventable.
A bit of sway can ruin your whole day. What causes it? What can result from it? And what can you do to avoid the perils of trailer sway? Read on!

Never lose your glasses or sunglasses again—have them nearby
This glasses holder clips to your car or RV’s visor so they’re always easily accessible to you. The glasses clip is closed with a magnet, holding it strong enough so that it won’t ever fall out, but is still easy enough to open with one hand. Tilted dump station? Level up the playing field
You’d think you’ve seen everything until you get to the dump station where the pavement is tilted off and away from the dump port. How will you ever get all the stuff out of your holding tanks if it’s cowering on the opposite side of the tank? If your rig is equipped with leveling jacks, it’s time for manual deployment. Gently set down the appropriate pad(s) and lift your rig up to overcome the effects of gravity.

Oregon’s Crater Lake is 1,943 feet deep. It’s the deepest lake in the United States and the deepest volcanic lake in the world. The deep blue lake contains a tremendous volume of water but has relatively little surface area. It takes a very cold winter to freeze the top. It has not frozen over since 1949.

Good news… Gas price hit a low yesterday in Illinois of $2.99. It’s been a long time.
Ugg. In the PNW, hovering around $4.29. Nuttin to be proud of.
Under $4.00 last time we were in Spokane
$4,09 in Spokane
Paid $5.29 for diesel yesterday. That’s down from $5.39, down from $5.59 last month. Got to love the north bay area of Ca.
$2.45 yesterday in Spring City,Tn. 🥳
Albuquerque, gas has been around 2.50 for awhile. Diesel around 3.09

Average gas price in ND 10-13-25 was $3.03. I filled Fri in Harwood, ND at $2.59.9 and that includes a free car wash! (10 miles north of Fargo). Notice fuel prices in Fargo at $2.69.9. If memory serves diesel at $3.30.9.
