The #1 MOST important thing to do BEFORE starting an RV remodel
By Cheri Sicard
Surprisingly, I have never seen this important bit of RV remodel advice mentioned in any of the hundreds of articles I’ve read and videos I’ve watched on the topic. But after owning RVs for most of my life, and especially after remodeling two of them, I KNOW for a fact that it is essential. I also know from experience it can save you a lot of time and money. Not to mention aggravation.
Now, obviously this advice does not apply to those doing a complete restoration and who are taking their RV down to the studs, so to speak.
But for those looking to make aesthetic changes, or to switch up systems like plumbing or electrical in your recently acquired RV, follow this RV remodel advice now, and I predict you’ll be thanking me later.
So what exactly is this essential bit of sage RV remodel wisdom? It’s this…

RV’s roof air conditioner wires shorted, almost caught on fire! Why didn’t circuit breaker trip?
By Dave Solberg
Dear Dave,
The Coleman-Mach 45054-8792 AC–heat pump on my 2020 Winnebago Navion 24V stopped working. I used my multimeter to check the compressor and the three capacitors and all appeared to be working correctly. I suspected the thermostat, but it still operated the furnace. So, reading your article on checking the thermostat voltage in today’s RV Travel newsletter, I checked it with the multimeter. It also works perfectly. … Steve, 2020 Winnebago Navion 24V

Today’s RV review is of the 2024 Ember RV Touring Edition 20FB. This is a prime example of something I suggest as you’re out there shopping for your next RV—check out what different manufacturers have to offer before plunking down your hardly-earned cash. …
Of course, there’s no such thing as the perfect RV. But some are clearly so much better executed than others, and they truly stand out. That’s the Ember Touring Edition.

Protect your trailer frame with a Roadmaster Comfort Ride upgrade
By Dustin Simpson
Join me “In The RV Shop” as I talk about improving the suspension of your towable RV trailer. Have you ever opened the door to your trailer after a road trip and looked into your own personal earthquake zone? Are cabinet drawers wide open with their contents strewn over the floor? Pictures off the wall? Furniture that’s “walked”? The Roadmaster Comfort Ride suspension system could be your answer.
Roof vent not doing its job? Here’s a solution…
If you smell your toilet when driving your motorhome down the road, it’s because the odor is being drawn into the RV and not outside via the roof vent. The solution is to get an inexpensive 360 Siphon Roof Vent. It works for all RVs even when the RV is not moving, like in a campground. Keep the stink away.

Recognize these vandals? The National Park Service wants you to help track down these two clowns who allegedly toppled over natural rock formations on Lake Mead National Recreational Area’s Redstone Dune Trail. More information and the video here.

Quick Tip
It’s time to check your roof
If you haven’t inspected your RV’s roof lately for possible leaks, do so now. Allowing water into your RV can result in large repair bills if not attended to quickly. Do not take a chance. Inspect soon or have a professional check.

My Mother’s One-Pan Cheesy Beef Dinner
by Terri Backhaus from Seattle, WA
This easy, cheesy, and beefy dinner is delish! You probably have all the ingredients handy to make this tonight. Except for boiling the pasta, everything is made in one pan. Adding a touch of sugar to the jarred sauce gives it a hint of sweetness. Sauteed onions, green peppers, and ground beef only add to the sauce’s flavor. The rotini soaks up the beefy sauce. On top is just the right amount of gooey cheese. Serve with a green salad to complete your meal.
Trivia
Think you’ve been to a desert before? Think again! You’ve never seen a desert like the Atacama Desert along the northern coast of Chile. The Atacama Desert is the driest desert in the world. How dry? Some weather stations in the desert have never (we repeat: never) recorded a drop of rainfall. Geologic evidence suggests that certain regions across the desert may not have had rainfall from 1570 to 1971. The desert is bone dry. NASA has used the region to test equipment for Mars missions.
Readers’ Pet of the Day
“We are full-time RV travelers and have been doing it for 10 years now. We rescued Lily (Border Collie) a year ago, and she lives our nomadic lifestyle. Lily and I run about 3-4 miles daily. I ride my bike and she is on a retractable leash. She gets so excited when I get my bike out. She barks and will nibble at my heel until I get up into at least 4th gear, when she can really stretch her legs. Everyone and every dog is always her new best friend. She is a love!” —Fred Crowley
Send us a photo of your pet with a short description. We publish one each weekday in RV Daily Tips and in our Sunday RV Travel newsletter. No blurry photos, please! Please do not submit your photo more than once. Thanks!

So not the whole desert as stated in the trivia question?
Lily is a lucky dog
the Atacama is not “bone” dry. It gets a fog early mornings and provides a little moisture in the sand
The McMurdo Dry Valleys in eastern Antarctica are barren lands that essentially receive no precipitation whatsoever and may not have for millions of years.
