Campground Office SignTop 5 camper complaints at RV parks

By Nanci Dixon
We are park hosts in a huge regional park. There are a variety of things that make for not-so-happy campers. Have you ever wondered what campers complain about the most? Do other people share the same annoyances as you? We have answers. Here are the top five complaints the campground office gets from campers at the park.

RVing always has, and always will, capture the hearts of adventurers, providing the freedom to roam, explore natural wonders, and carry a piece of home wherever the road leads. But how does the RVing experience change with time? According to one of our recent polls, 24 percent of our readers enjoy RVing more now than when they started, 45 percent feel the same as they did when they first started, 27 percent enjoy it less, and 4 percent don’t enjoy it at all anymore. Here’s a deeper dive into what these numbers mean.

As people age, anxiety can become a common, often overwhelming, experience. Anxiety in older adults can stem from a combination of health, social, and financial concerns. I’d like to make the case that RVing positively addresses these concerns—especially for seniors, but really for everyone. Read on to find out why.

Forthcoming 2025 Brinkley Model I 265 – Wow!

Overview of the Brinkley Model I 265

By Tony Barthel
Today’s RV review is of the forthcoming Brinkley Model I 265 travel trailer. Let’s face it, I look at a lot of RVs and the majority of what I look at are travel trailers. This is, in many ways, one of the best travel trailers I have ever seen. But there is a hiccup or two, which we will get into shortly. Continue reading Tony’s rave review.

RV service centers and repairs report
Thinking about replacing an older RV? RVers say, “Don’t do it!”

Nanci Dixon reports on what our readers have to say about RV service centers and repairs, good and bad. One RVer’s story makes the point that it might be best to buy an RV from a nearby dealer rather than one a mountain range away. Another RVer is having difficulty getting work done under warranty and recommends others stay away from this brand of RV because “they don’t stand behind their expensive products.” Read more.

Around the campfire
A group of friends sitting around the campfire discuss the downsides to workampingRVers discuss the downsides to workamping

By Gail Marsh
Like many RVers, my husband and I frequently talk about workamping. It seems like a great “fit” for us. We both enjoy helping others. We share a strong work ethic. Having RVed for several years, we know our way around a campground, and we’re outgoing and friendly. Staying in one RV spot with free or reduced site fees sounds inviting, too. Well, it did. Until a recent campfire discussion. That’s where we learned about some downsides to workamping.

Rules vary about alcohol use in state parks

By Gail Marsh
Many RVers enjoy camping in local state parks. However, when it comes to bringing alcohol to state parks, the rules can vary widely. Much depends on the state and the specific park you’re visiting. Generally, state parks across the U.S. allow some form of alcohol, but with specific restrictions. Here’s an overview of what to expect, along with some essential guidelines to keep your outdoor experience enjoyable and respectful.

driver errorsTop 12 driver errors—Will they catch you?

By Russ & Tiña De Maris
RVers may spend more time behind the wheel than the average driver. That gives us plenty more opportunities to do something bone-headed and get into an accident. Here’s the top 12 list of driver errors. Check them out and see if perhaps you need to make any adjustments to keep yourself—and others—safer on the road.

All RVers own a “whiskey stick,” but we bet you don’t know its history!

By Gail Marsh
You probably have at least one, perhaps more than one “whiskey stick” in your RV. And no, a whiskey stick is not used during happy hour! The whiskey stick has an interesting history. Once you know it, you’ll think of it each time you check that your RV is level. Guaranteed. Find out what I’m talking about here.

Craighead Caverns is a must-see during your RV travels

By Dave Helgeson
A recent poll in RVtravel.com asked the question “Do you enjoy visiting caves?” I, along with a large percentage of other readers, answered: “Yes, very much.” Given the common interest among RVers, I will begin to feature a cave in the Lower 48 states that can easily be incorporated into your RV travels. Today, let’s take a look at the amazing Craighead Caverns.

Rambler Ranch in Elizabeth, Colorado, is home to the world's largest collection of Rambler automobiles.Rambler Ranch: A shrine to old cars, Americana in rural Colorado

RV travelers in Colorado can find their way through small towns, drive across open ranges, visit national parks and sightsee in quirky towns, museums and monuments. Rambler Ranch personifies the state’s connection to the past. It’s a secluded museum of Americana, a life’s work for Terry Gale as a remembrance of family and the iconic automobiles of yesteryear. You’ll love this!

RV tire safety
What is tire tread scrubbing, and how can I fix it?

By Roger Marble
If you have a “tag” axle on your Class A or you have a multi-axle towable trailer or 5th wheel, you may have noticed the tread surface of some of your tires shows “scrubbing” or side slip. Sometimes you even see black marks left on the pavement from your tires. Why? Is there something wrong with your setup? You try to avoid sharp turns and U-turns as much as possible, but still see visible signs of side scrubbing on the tread of your tires. Continue reading.

Don’t kill yourself or loved ones out of ignorance
• If you ever feel a shock when touching your RV, take action. Otherwise, you could kill yourself or loved ones.
• If you blow a front tire, do this. The result could be a disaster if you follow your instincts.

Trivia

How long does the caffeine in coffee stay in your body? Caffeine from coffee (or any caffeinated beverage) can remain in the body for up to 6 hours after consumption. While it may seem its effects have worn off, a cup of coffee consumed at 5 p.m. can still cause difficulty falling asleep if you like to go to bed early.

I am unable to climb steps to get in my motorhome. Can you recommend a company to fit it with a lift or can you recommend a dealer that sells campers that are made for handicapped persons?

Perform a Google search for handicap accessible campers. You’ll find ’em.

I suggest taking Tai Chi lessons, very low impact exercise but builds good strength. They even have them for seniors.

I was guessing that the solution to the brain teaser was going to be “a shadow”, but I felt that the “easily flies” part of the clue was confusing / misleading.
