Today’s thought
“You must write every single day of your life… You must lurk in libraries and climb the stacks like ladders to sniff books like perfumes and wear books like hats upon your crazy heads… may you be in love every day for the next 20,000 days. And out of that love, remake a world.” ―
Need an excuse to celebrate? Today is National Day of Forgiveness.
On this day in history: 1825 – The world’s first public railway to use steam locomotives, the Stockton and Darlington Railway, is ceremonially opened.

Tips for reusing brown paper grocery bags while RVing
By Gail Marsh
Work-camping in Colorado for the past several months, we’ve amassed a substantial number of brown paper grocery bags. Colorado is a state that disallows plastic bags. If we forget to take our own bags to the store, we spend a dime and purchase a grocery bag to carry home our purchases. With so many bags piling up in our RV, it’s time to find some tips and tricks for using brown paper grocery bags! Here are some of my favorites…

What is the best fire extinguisher for an RV?
By Dave Solberg
Dear Dave,
What is the best fire extinguisher to carry in our RV? We have recently seen ads for one called the Element that doesn’t expire and doesn’t cause a huge mess should you need to use it in your house, RV, or car. One that tackles multiple types of fires is preferred. Thanks for your guidance! —Angela, 2024 ShowHauler Read Dave’s answer.

Pictures show the damage a hurricane can do to an RV
By Dustin Simpson
Wow, this is a heartbreaking story—my thoughts go out to this fellow RV owner. The devastation that Mother Nature can bring is no joke, and this story from Canisteo, NY, during the remnants of Hurricane Debby, is a powerful reminder of just how unpredictable and dangerous weather can be. [Good luck to all of you dealing with Hurricane Helene. Stay safe!]

Essential RV tools you should always carry
By Cheri Sicard
That RV Tech is here with a video about the five RV tools he uses constantly and says that should be carried in every RV. It actually covers MORE than just five RV tools, but these are, nonetheless, important.
This is an RV technician’s opinion of essential RV tools. It matters not whether your RV is a motorhome, travel trailer, or 5th wheel, these tools will serve you well.

A 65-foot rig with a 1933 classic secret in the back

Last night a motorhome pulling a huge enclosed trailer appeared in the RV park. As the “garage” door to the trailer opened I noticed a large group of rather noisy neighbors peering in, with jaws dropped. Drop your jaw here.

Quick tip
Neat tip for parking your RV
From David C., regarding how to back up a trailer or fifth wheel: “I went to Harbor Freight Tools and bought some cheap orange-colored straps. I marked the length of my driver side slide so I would know where to place it. I then stretch them out so I have a visual where I want the tires. I store these straps right behind the driver’s seat for quick access. Parking is so much easier. The only time I have problems is when I get too lazy to pull them out, thinking ‘this will be easy.’ I usually end up cockeyed in the site with no reference line.” Thanks, David!

In old England, 10 families equaled a tithing. 10 tithings equaled a shire. Each shire elected a reeve. That “shire reeve” came to be known as a “sheriff.”

“Our baby, Sweetie, (Shih Tzu/Pekingese) is almost 15 years old. She’s been the best traveling dog we could ask for. She loves the beach and she loves kids. She’s getting up in years and has some vision problems but she still loves to go! We love our Sweetie girl.” —Becky Charlton

I never get tired of that Jay Leno interview!
Even though I’ve seen it before, the 100 yr old lady with Leno is a real gem. Thanks for posting. That was back when late night shows were actually entertaining and funny instead of nothing but politics.
Jay Leno’s show was always fun. Hated to see him give it up. His collector car collection is out of site. Thanks for all those late nite laughs Jay!
Reminds me of the potato chip lady on Johnny Carson. When she wasn’t looking he took a big bite out of her favorite potato chip.
Thank you, Emily and Diane! 🙂 Sweetie is adorable, Becky! 🙂 I wish you many more trips with her! 🙂 Thanks for recycling the 100-year-old lady; she is great! 🙂 Thanks again, have a great day, safe travels, and safe stays! 🙂
