Tips on decorating your RV for the holidays

The holidays are just around the corner. Here are some tips on decorating your RV for the special season ahead.

Special RV considerations

Decorating a very small space like an RV is different from decorating your stix-n-brix home for the holidays. Here are three things you may want to keep in mind:

1. Use decor that will not interfere with how you normally use your RV. For example, a Christmas tree may block access, impede movement, or visually overwhelm the small space.
2. Keep in mind that everything you bring into the RV will add to the rig’s overall weight. Look for lightweight decor.
3. This year, again, inflation has affected the cost of fuel, food, and more. You may want to find ways to maximize your budget. For example, make your own decorations.

RV extended warranties: What should I know for my new-to-me diesel pusher?

Hi Dave,
I am buying this coach with 36,000 miles on it. I want to purchase a warranty product that will cover all of the important things on the coach for a period of 5 years. I have been looking at lots of companies online. I am trying to determine who I should talk to about such coverage. I am new to coaching, so I do not know what companies I should speak to. Around the Campfire: Campgrounds pivot to accommodate the changing needs of campers

A while back our campfire conversation talked about the ways some campgrounds are changing. Today there are more and more homeless folks finding shelter in campgrounds, along with traveling workers, and permanent residents. This has prompted some campground owners to pivot in order to accommodate the changing needs of today’s campers. Continue reading about the ongoing changes occurring in campgrounds in order to keep up with the times.

More money-saving tips on the road

Here are some more ways to save money on the road:

• Maintain your RV to save on repair bills.
• Eat out less — prepare your own meals.
• Treat your batteries right so they last longer.
• Buy from farmers markets, roadside farm stands, U-pick farms and orchards.
• Barter for a campsite if you have something to offer.
• Reduce food costs by buying from bulk bins.
• Eat right and exercise (at least 30 minutes a day) to cut down on meds and doctor visits.
• Stay at great locations for the cost of a membership fee at Harvest Hosts and Boondockers Welcome.
• Volunteer or become a camp host, which usually comes with a free campsite.
• Take a caretaking position for free rent. The Caretaker Gazette is a good resource.
• Shop at charity/thrift stores to save on just about everything.

Device keeps fresh water tank clean
Tony Barthel writes: “The RV Inline Sanitizer is the simplest of solutions. It’s essentially a reservoir in which you put bleach and then use a source hose and a delivery hose to fill your fresh water tank. The sanitizer effectively adds the bleach as you fill the tank.
