Cables in a tangle? Use this quick tip to tame them

The multitude of thin power and charging cables for phones, tablets and computers need to be accessible, of course, but they can easily end up in a tangle, especially if you only have a few outlets to choose from like we do in RVs. Command hooks can help tame that mess.
I decided to tackle a cabinet in our RV that had an electrical outlet in it. It was the perfect place to attach the Command hooks so I could get to the cords while using any of our devices. I first added a multiple outlet plug with USB ports to the standard two-outlet receptacle. Continue reading.

Do I need to keep my stored trailer plugged in?

Dear Dave,
Should I install a 30-amp service and keep the trailer plugged in when not in use? The trailer is under cover and I monitor the battery charge and run a heavy-duty cord at least once a month for a long weekend to charge the batteries. Adding a 30-amp circuit would mean trenching 75-ish feet. I’m very capable of this. Thank you. Get rid of those decal “ghosts”!
If you use a coin to remove old decals from your RV, you may have an unwelcome guest when the job’s done: decal “ghosts” – shadowy after-images imprinted in the Filon siding. The solution? A heavy-duty oxidation remover! Pour the remover onto a rough sponge and scrub the Filon in circles. The yellow oxidation will come right up and your RV will look good as new! Quick tip
Store more in tiny galley cabinets
Nearly every RV has them: Little upper cabinets in the galley that challenge you to try and use them. You can put stuff up there, but open the door after travel, and expect to have junk cascade down on your head. Megan, a military wife who has changed homes more than her socks, has an idea for those small cabinets: Organize them with small, woven plastic baskets. How about storing Tupperware containers in one and the lids in another? Or all those little jars of spices (write the contents on the lids, makes it easier)? Kitchen gadgets? The list is endless. Here’s a link to a variety of baskets on Amazon. No, the baskets don’t come with the labels; she added those to help organize her husband.
